This page documents the Third Election of the Holy Roman Empire.

The Election was held over 3 days from the 23rd of February 2024 to the 26th of February 2024 and determined the Third Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire (the Second Emperor Colt_44_Magnum did not wish to continue their reign).
=How Voting is Conducted=
Voting is conducted through a unique system that aims to favor only the most active players, rather than micro town owners, one man nations or residents who log in for less than a week.

Voting is supervised by Masrain, who has given up their voting power as Imperial Arbiter. Their job is to conduct electoral counts and to protect the integrity of the Holy Roman Empire.
==The Electorate==
The election of the Holy Roman Emperor and the laws surrounding this were established in the Second Imperial Diet (which proceeded the now Perpetual Diet) and the Perpetual Diet itself.
Electoral power is determined on the basis of land area, this replaced the old system of 1 nation 1 vote. The allocations are as follows.

*Rank 1, 50 plots to 200 which is 1 vote.

*Rank 2, 201-400 which is 2 votes.

*Rank 3, 401-940 which gives 3 votes.

*Bonus vote for nation leaders.

Who is eligible for this election was determined by the Second Diet. The Second diet and the compromise to the German reforms was that for the second election, the only people eligible were Nation leaders. In all following Imperial elections afterwards, town owners became eligible for election to the Imperial Diet.

==The 2 Round System==
Often times in politics, there are many compromises to be made and not always does someone win a majority of votes. The 2 round system attempts to alleviate this pressure by eliminating all but the top 2 most popular (in vote number terms) in the first round, then pitting these 2 candidates against each other in the second round. The only time the second round is not conducted is if a candidate in the first round wins a majority.

=The 3rd Election=
The 3rd election was conducted in three phases, Registration, First round and Second round.
==Candidacy==
On the first day, for 24 hours, all eligible people were able to enroll for the Election. At the end of this period, the Census was set in stone for the election, therefore any more chunk changes, mayoral changes or nation transfers, or vote delegations could not effect the election.

Three players enrolled as candidates for the election, these were:

*ShadowVoider of Luxembourg

*CorruptedGreed of Venice

*Wake_PvP of Al-Karak

==First Round==
The first round was conducted after the Census was conducted (approx 4 hours after registration was closed (late)).
A post was put in the Imperial Diet explaining how to vote. Voting was cast by reacting 1, 2 or 3 on the post. Votes were then counted on the [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LlhcPuQLCojxTT-VlnWWRyAErXx7JQTW-Cp_5rhvZnw/edit?usp=sharing Official Google Sheet].
The results were as follows:

*ShadowVoider of Luxembourg, 60 votes.

*CorruptedGreed of Venice, 31 votes.

*Wake_PvP of Al-Karak, 4 votes.
(Note person who voted for two candidates had their vote disqualified)

Voting is supervised by Masrain, who has given up their voting power as Imperial Arbiter. Their job is to conduct electoral counts and to protect the integrity of the Holy Roman Empire.

The election of the Holy Roman Emperor and the laws surrounding this were established in the Second Imperial Diet (which proceeded the now Perpetual Diet) and the Perpetual Diet itself.
Electoral power is determined on the basis of land area, this replaced the old system of 1 nation 1 vote. The allocations are as follows.

*Rank 1, 50 plots to 200 which is 1 vote.

*Rank 2, 201-400 which is 2 votes.

*Rank 3, 401-940 which gives 3 votes.

*Bonus vote for nation leaders.

Who is eligible for this election was determined by the Second Diet. The Second diet and the compromise to the German reforms was that for the second election, the only people eligible were Nation leaders. In all following Imperial elections afterwards, town owners became eligible for election to the Imperial Diet.

Often times in politics, there are many compromises to be made and not always does someone win a majority of votes.
