Leiria is part of the Kingdom of Portugal. The town is located in Western Europe, in the west of the [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iberian%20Peninsula Iberian Peninsula]. It is bordered by Porto to the north, by Guarda to the northeast, by Salamanca and Spanish Gulag (Spain) to the east, by [[Lisbon]] to the south and southeast and by the [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic%20Ocean Atlantic Ocean] to the west. Leiria was officially founded on May 1st, 2022 by [[underrrr]]. Leiria is a safe and pacific town as pvp, mobs, explosions and fire spread are disabled in its territory. Leiria's history begins with the foundation of the Kingdom of Portugal. 
While a considerable amount of gold was being obtained for the formation of the capital, [[Lisbon]], a group of players - that would later found Norway - anticipated for a mere second and created the Portuguese town. After some negociations an understanding was reached in which Portugal would give about 400g to these players in exchange of the town along with the promise that they would not create a town in Portuguese territory again. The Portuguese players ended up creating two other towns: one to the north, Porto, and the other quite close to Lisbon, named Lisboa. This is, in fact, the previous name of Leiria. 
The town was founded by [[underrrr]] on May 1st, 2022, but shortly after its foundation a player called BeyondReturn was nominated to be in charge of it. He would remain as mayor until June 18th, 2022.

About a month after Leiria's foundation, the mayor BeyondReturn felt bored for playing only by himself in the town and wanted to leave it. That's when the Portuguese King, [[underrrr]], reached to [[Aurora:zedascoubes|zedascoubes]] suggesting him to be the new mayor, which he accepted. 
The first issue [[Aurora:zedascoubes|zedascoubes]] had to deal in the town was changing its name ''Lisboa'' (portuguese name of Lisbon) to ''Leiria'', as there was already a town named [[Lisbon]], the capital of the Portuguese Realm. With a generous gold donation from the King, it was no big deal. 
The following days were mainly based on planning, expanding and exploring the land. As [[Aurora:zedascoubes|zedascoubes]] took the charge of the town from a really early point and due to the development held in his ruling period he is considered, effectively, the founder of Leiria.

Castelo do Queijo was the first big building in Leiria, therefore becoming a landmark in the town. It was built by a player named oscargoty to be his home. At first, the building was located between a mount and the coast. As [[Aurora:zedascoubes|zedascoubes]] intended to preserve that mount, he decided to build the Town Hall above it. He then noticed that buildings too high would compromise the visibility of Leiria's central building and reached an agreement with oscargoty to change his home location. The emblematic second version of Castelo do Queijo, despite being slightly different from the previous one, can still be visited on Leiria's coast.

On the ground floor, the names, titles and donations of Honorary Persons and Donors are displayed.
