'''History of Nordic'''

'''Early Settlement and Sandefjord'''

The history that would eventually lead to Nordic began shortly after the server's world reset. A group of players who had previously played together on Aurora decided to return to the newly created world. Among them were Only_Youtube, Anders565, Owlkiller, Papaman15, Danaille, and KyleTheBuilder.

Anders565 was one of the first members of the group to begin playing again. He travelled to Scandinavia and secured a location in southern Norway, where he established the town of Sandefjord. The remaining members of the former Aurora group gradually returned as the new world developed and began establishing themselves around the area.

During this early period, Anders came into contact with the developing Norwegian nation led by Normann. Sandefjord subsequently became one of the earlier towns to join Norway. At this stage there was no plan to create a separate nation. The group's focus was on rebuilding after the reset, developing Sandefjord, and establishing a permanent position within Norway.

Sandefjord continued to grow steadily and eventually became one of the larger towns in the nation. Anders also became increasingly involved in Norway beyond simply managing his own town. He supported newer settlements, promoted the nation, provided discounted map art and other services to Norwegian players, and used his own resources on several occasions to assist Norwegian citizens.

Norway itself was developing politically at the same time. Normann remained the primary national leader, while River, also known as SuperJosh0, was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs directly by Normann rather than receiving the position through an election. River gradually became involved not only in foreign affairs but also in internal political matters. Anders and others increasingly believed that his practical influence extended beyond the formal responsibilities of his position.

Anders and Only_Youtube, commonly referred to as Only, were later given councillor positions. For a period, Sandefjord's growth and Norway's development continued alongside each other, but disagreements gradually emerged over how negotiations should be conducted, how national decisions were made, and how much influence individual members of the government possessed.

These disagreements became particularly significant during the conflict surrounding Straumen.

'''The Straumen Crisis'''

Straumen was controlled by TheHenstigator, whose relationship with Norway deteriorated considerably. During this period, TheHenstigator repeatedly killed Norwegian citizens. These incidents were confirmed, and Anders personally compensated several of the affected players for equipment they had lost. TheHenstigator also became increasingly hostile toward Norway and discussed leaving the nation to establish a political project of his own. Around the same time, one of his associates established a town in Alaska, increasing concern that the conflict could extend beyond Straumen itself.
Straumen was eventually removed from Norway. Following this, TheHenstigator offered to sell the town for approximately 2,200 gold.

Normann was initially willing to purchase Straumen at that price, while Anders and Only argued that Norway should take advantage of its stronger negotiating position. Because Straumen was located in an area largely surrounded by Norway, they believed TheHenstigator had relatively few realistic alternative buyers. Their preferred strategy was therefore to wait rather than immediately accept his asking price. The strategy began to produce results. After approximately one week with little communication, the price fell from around 2,200 gold to approximately 1,600 gold. Anders and Only believed that continued patience might have reduced the price even further, potentially toward approximately 1,100 gold. The disagreement therefore became about more than the value of one town. Anders and Only favored using Norway's territorial position as leverage, while Normann was more willing to secure Straumen at a higher price.

River later became directly involved in the dispute without, according to Anders and Only, having been informed about the strategy behind delaying negotiations. He strongly criticized their handling of the situation and described it as "unacceptable." The criticism also affected the previously cooperative economic relationship between Anders and River. Anders had been providing River with substantial discounts through his map art business because of their shared involvement in Norway. Following River's criticism, Anders cancelled those discounted arrangements. Using River's own wording, Anders argued that if the handling of Straumen was considered "unacceptable," then continuing to provide substantial nation-based discounts while other customers paid normal prices could likewise be considered "unacceptable."

The Straumen crisis brought several existing tensions together. It involved disagreements over negotiation strategy, political influence, economic relationships, and the way internal disputes were handled. River's position also became part of the wider disagreement because, despite having been appointed directly by Normann rather than elected, he had developed into one of the most influential figures within Norway.

For Anders, Only, and others around them, the conflict contributed to growing dissatisfaction with the direction of the Norwegian government.

'''Creation and Expansion of Nordic'''

Before the Straumen dispute, the project that eventually became Nordic had been considerably smaller. The original idea was approximately a one-chunk commercial spawn where members could promote their shops, businesses, and services. Normann and River/SuperJosh0 later characterized this as an understanding that Nordic was supposed to operate as a banking nation or permanently limited commercial state. Nordic disputes this interpretation. Commercial activity was clearly central to the original concept, but no formal agreement established Nordic as permanently restricted to banking. No treaty stated that the project could not accept additional towns, expand territorially, conduct independent diplomacy, or eventually develop into a conventional nation. From Nordic's perspective, the one-chunk concept described how the project was initially supposed to begin rather than what it was permanently required to remain. The political circumstances surrounding the project changed substantially during the Straumen crisis, and the commercial concept eventually developed into an independent nation. The financial foundation for the new nation was provided by Owlkiller, who contributed 5,000 gold toward its creation.

Nordic's establishment was followed almost immediately by considerable growth. Nearby towns including Skien, Drammen, Moss_Jernverk, and Kongsvinger rallied to join the new nation and left Norway in the process. Their decision transformed Nordic from a small commercial concept into a regional nation consisting of several established towns. Around the same time, Anders was contacted by Grenv, who had previously been connected to Nordic on Aurora. Grenv was looking to sell his nation, Turkey, and his return created another connection between the former Aurora community and the newly established Nordic. This was followed by further expansion. Aland and Geiranger were established, while Bjork and Alesund followed later. Nordic also began attracting players who had no connection to the original dispute with Norway. One example was Floro, which was established by a new player north of Norway's capital, Bergen. Anders contacted the mayor, and Floro subsequently joined Nordic. This was an important stage in Nordic's development because its growth could no longer be described simply as Norwegian towns following the original founders. Completely new players were now independently choosing to become part of the nation.

At the same time, this rapid expansion created a serious geographical problem. Nordic had developed within the comparatively narrow space between the much larger territorial claims of Norway and Sweden. As additional towns joined and expanded, avoiding territory claimed by either neighbor became increasingly difficult.

'''Continuing Dispute with Norway'''

Nordic's independence did not end its political disagreement with members of the Norwegian leadership. River/SuperJosh0 continued contacting Nordic mayors after the nation was established. According to Nordic, he contacted every Nordic mayor after its creation in an attempt to explain what he considered the Norwegian side of the events surrounding the split. This continued long after Nordic's creation. River has portrayed Nordic as a rebellious or oath-breaking nation which, in his view, should not have developed in the form that it did. He has repeatedly returned to the Norway–Nordic dispute in conversations, including with mayors who joined Nordic after the original events had already occurred.

Nordic interprets this as an attempt by River both to promote his interpretation of events and to protect his own legacy within them. River appears to regard presenting his version of the story as necessary to challenge what he considers an inaccurate portrayal of Norway and his own role in its government. Nordic, by contrast, views repeatedly approaching newly joined mayors as continued interference in the affairs of an independent nation. The disagreement also became increasingly personal. During conversations with Anders, River made remarks implying that Anders had problems involving his parents. He also repeatedly used the metaphor that Nordic was "built on sand", arguing that anything built on sand would eventually collapse. Only a few hours after one such exchange, River published an announcement in the Norwegian Discord that appeared to repeat the same imagery. The announcement included the statement:

"As a small reminder our Territory is Norway IRL for those who are confused on what is Norway's Claim Map is."

River then stated that Norway might not possess as much gold or influence as some surrounding nations and included a Biblical quotation concerning a kingdom that was "not of this world." He went on to warn that people who acted corruptly would eventually face judgement in their real lives and again referred to things built on "sand and corruption" eventually falling. Because the announcement appeared only hours after River had used similar language directly toward Anders, Nordic interpreted it as a reference to their earlier conversation rather than an unrelated statement. The dispute had therefore moved considerably beyond the disagreements that originally surrounded Straumen. It increasingly became a conflict over legitimacy, personal reputation, and which version of the Norway–Nordic split would become accepted by other players. While the disagreement with Norway continued, Nordic's territorial growth was simultaneously creating a much more immediate confrontation with Sweden.

'''The Swedish Border Dispute'''

Several Nordic towns had expanded into or close to areas Sweden regarded as part of its territorial sphere. Aland and Bjork in particular had expanded to some extent into Swedish-claimed territory, creating the basis for a growing dispute over where Nordic should be allowed to continue developing. The first major confrontation did not begin through formal diplomacy.

A group of Swedish citizens travelled to Nordic using /n spawn Nordic, where they directed insults toward Nordic citizens and looked for opportunities to interfere with property around the spawn. Several objects were damaged during the incident, including casino machines. Nordic regarded the event as a raid rather than an ordinary disagreement between individual players, and it marked the point at which overlapping territorial claims began developing into direct confrontation between citizens of the two nations. Following the raid, discussions between Nordic and the Swedish leadership became more serious. Sweden was represented primarily by its leader, ChrisNoSignal, together with co-founder Hubbayes, and the two sides began attempting to establish a formal Nordic–Swedish border. Negotiations involved considerable back and forth. Neither party initially accepted the other's preferred arrangement, but discussions continued under the assumption that a compromise could eventually be reached. The situation became more difficult when the verbal discussions began being translated into an actual written treaty. Nordic believed that several conditions appearing in the Swedish drafts differed from what had previously been discussed, with Bjork becoming the clearest example. Sweden initially introduced a restriction limiting Bjork to 25 chunks. Nordic challenged the condition on the basis that no such limitation had formed part of the earlier negotiations. Sweden subsequently increased the proposed limit to 100 chunks, but this did not resolve Nordic's concern. The primary disagreement was not simply whether Bjork received 25 or 100 chunks; it was that a specific town-size restriction had been introduced during the treaty-writing process without Nordic believing that such a restriction had previously been agreed upon. The argument over Bjork was connected to a wider disagreement concerning Nordic's geographic position. Under the existing relationship between Norway and Sweden, a town extending substantially into territory recognized as belonging to the other nation could generally be expected to leave its nation. Sweden wanted a similar principle applied to Nordic. Nordic argued that this would be considerably more difficult in its case. Norway and Sweden controlled much larger territories, while Nordic occupied the relatively narrow space between them. If Nordic were expected to remove every town that entered either Swedish- or Norwegian-claimed territory, the nation could effectively be prevented from expanding in almost every direction.

Bjork consequently became the focus of an attempted compromise. Sweden proposed that Nordic could keep the town in exchange for approximately 400 gold. Nordic was broadly prepared to accept the 400-gold payment in order to settle the immediate Bjork dispute. The larger concern was the precedent that such an arrangement might create. Nordic was rapidly gaining additional towns, and its leadership feared that the Bjork settlement could become the beginning of a recurring system in which Sweden demanded similar payments whenever another Nordic town entered Swedish-claimed territory. A single payment of 400 gold was manageable. Repeatedly paying comparable amounts for new towns could become financially unsustainable and effectively restrict Nordic's continued expansion. The negotiations therefore continued without a final settlement. They were also delayed because Only_Youtube, one of Nordic's principal representatives, was away on vacation. Both parties were effectively waiting for his return so that Nordic could prepare another border proposal. Only remained away for approximately nine days, during which time another town changed the situation on the ground.

A citizen who had previously been part of Moss_Jernkraftverk established a new town called Halleshult in another area claimed by Sweden. Shortly after creating the town, its founder obtained a Legendary Dragon Head from a Mystery Crate. The valuable reward provided substantial resources and contributed to Halleshult expanding at an unusually rapid pace. Halleshult had not existed when the original border negotiations began, meaning that its sudden development further complicated an already unsettled situation. From Sweden's perspective, Nordic's presence in Swedish-claimed territory appeared to be continuing to grow while negotiations were taking place. From Nordic's perspective, Halleshult had been established by one of its citizens during a period in which no final treaty had been signed and no mutually agreed Nordic–Swedish border existed to prevent expansion in the area.

Only eventually returned from vacation intending to draw up a new border proposal that could account for Bjork, Halleshult, and the wider territorial situation while producing what Nordic considered a fair compromise for both nations.
He was not given the opportunity to complete and present it.

Before the proposal could be finalized, Sweden announced a surprise war against Nordic in its Discord server. The declaration came after a continuous series of unresolved events: Aland and Bjork had created overlapping territorial claims, the Swedish raid had increased tensions, both governments had entered border negotiations, disagreements had emerged over newly introduced treaty terms, the proposed 400-gold arrangement had moved the sides closer to resolving Bjork, and Halleshult had changed the territorial situation while Only was away. Only returned intending to continue the diplomatic process, but Sweden declared war before his proposal could be presented. For Nordic, this timing became one of the central controversies surrounding the conflict because, despite the lengthy negotiations, no final Nordic–Swedish border treaty had ever been signed.

'''The Nordic–Swedish War'''

The Swedish declaration transformed the unresolved border dispute into an active territorial conflict. Sweden's first significant move after declaring war was to fund the establishment of Arjeplog, positioned directly beside the borders of Aland. Its placement was intended to prevent or significantly restrict Aland from continuing to expand into the surrounding territory. Arjeplog was therefore directly connected to the negotiations that had preceded the war. Sweden had previously attempted to restrict Nordic's expansion through treaty conditions and border agreements; following the declaration, strategically positioned towns became another way of applying territorial pressure. Nordic responded quickly with the same type of strategy. Rather than limiting its response to the area around Aland, Nordic funded the creation of Nordic Siege beside Stockholm, bringing territorial pressure directly toward Sweden's political center. ChrisNoSignal responded by expanding Swedish claims around Nordic Siege until the town was effectively fully encased, leaving it without a direction in which to expand. This became a server-rule issue because completely surrounding another town in this manner constituted prohibited claim-blocking. ChrisNoSignal was therefore required to remove the relevant claims, reopening territory around Nordic Siege and allowing the town to continue expanding. The conflict widened further with the creation of Lokiheim, another Nordic town that pushed Nordic's presence farther into the southern regions. As the war continued, it also began to affect Sweden internally. One of Sweden's own towns, Tamil_Nadu, eventually broke away from Sweden and joined Nordic. This marked an important development in the conflict because the war was no longer only producing newly founded strategic settlements; it was also beginning to alter the membership and internal cohesion of the nations involved. Tamil_Nadu's departure gave Nordic another established town while simultaneously reducing Sweden's own town base. From Nordic's perspective, the defection demonstrated that the consequences of the conflict were beginning to extend beyond the original disagreement over Aland, Bjork, and the unsigned border treaty. By this stage, what had started as a territorial dispute between Nordic and Sweden had developed into a broader struggle involving strategic town creation, claim pressure, server-rule disputes, expansion into new regions, and even the movement of existing towns from one side to the other.

'''The Nordic Moon Race'''

While the war with Sweden was developing, the server was preparing one of its largest new updates. On 30 August 2026, the server went offline in preparation for the Moon update, a major addition introducing rockets, lunar travel, new equipment, and the possibility of establishing a presence on the Moon. Nordic quickly decided that it wanted to participate in the race to reach the Moon. Doing so required significant preparation, particularly the acquisition of titanium ingots, a rare mining drop required alongside the necessary rocket, fuel, and specialized equipment. As soon as the update became relevant, Nordic began searching for titanium and attempting to purchase ingots from other players. Because titanium was both rare and in extremely high demand during the early stages of the update, competing in the Moon race required considerable financial resources. Grenv invested a significant amount into the project, helping Nordic acquire the titanium and other materials needed to prepare an expedition. The investment ultimately enabled Nordic to become one of the server's early moonwalking groups and helped secure a Nordic Moon outpost.

By this stage, what had originally begun as a border disagreement involving Aland and Bjork had developed into a broader territorial conflict involving strategically funded settlements in several different regions.

By this stage, what had originally begun as a border disagreement involving Aland and Bjork had developed into a broader territorial conflict involving strategically funded settlements in several different regions.

'''The Nordic Moon Race'''

While the war with Sweden was developing, the server was preparing one of its largest new updates.

This continued even approximately three weeks after Nordic's creation.

These disagreements became particularly significant during the conflict surrounding Straumen.

He strongly criticized their handling of the situation and described it as "unacceptable."

The criticism also affected the previously cooperative economic relationship between Anders and River.

This continued even approximately three weeks after Nordic's creation.

The Swedish Border Dispute

Several Nordic towns had expanded into or close to areas Sweden regarded as part of its territorial sphere. Aland and Bjork in particular had expanded to some extent into Swedish-claimed territory, creating the basis for a growing dispute over where Nordic should be allowed to continue developing.

The Nordic–Swedish War

The Swedish declaration transformed the unresolved border dispute into an active territorial conflict.

Sweden's first significant move after declaring war was to fund the establishment of Arjeplog, positioned directly beside the borders of Aland. Its placement was intended to prevent or significantly restrict Aland from continuing to expand into the surrounding territory.

''''''History of Nordic'''''Italic text'''''
Early Settlement and Sandefjord

The Straumen Crisis

He strongly criticized their handling of the situation and described it as "unacceptable."

The criticism also affected the previously cooperative economic relationship between Anders and River.

Creation and Expansion of Nordic

Continuing Dispute with Norway

Nordic's independence did not end its political disagreement with members of the Norwegian leadership.

River/SuperJosh0 continued contacting Nordic mayors after the nation was established. According to Nordic, he contacted every Nordic mayor after its creation in an attempt to explain what he considered the Norwegian side of the events surrounding the split.

This continued even approximately three weeks after Nordic's creation.

By this stage, what had originally begun as a border disagreement involving Aland and Bjork had developed into a broader territorial conflict involving strategically funded settlements in several different regions.

The Nordic Moon Race

While the war with Sweden was developing, the server was preparing one of its largest new updates.

On 30 August 2026, the server went offline in preparation for the Moon update, a major addition introducing rockets, lunar travel, new equipment, and the possibility of establishing a presence on the Moon.

== Overview ==
The Kingdom of Norway was a nation created on May 7th, 2022 during Terra Aurora's (TA) early access. Its founders during that time include BigshotWarrior, tony_83, TheAmazing_Moe, alongside others such as Natezaa and North_Paso who helped in donating gold to fund for the nation. Norway is the 55th nation to be made on Terra Aurora.

=== Early History ===

==== Creating and Selling Lisbon ====
[[File:Bigshot makes Lisbon.jpg|alt=Bigshot creating the town of Lisbon on EMC Terra Aurora.|thumb|BigshotWarrior (the future king of Norway) creates the town of Lisbon on May 1st, 2022.]]
The history of the Kingdom of Norway is limited due to the time of activity and limited spots open during TA's early access. Norway was not the first choice for this group, as Iceland was the first goal. On May 1st, 2022, BigshotWarrior created the town of Lisbon along the banks of the Tagus river. Within a couple of hours however, the players BeyondReturn and underrrr created the town of Lisboa, a couple hundred blocks north of Lisbon. Seeing the competition in the area, BigshotWarrior decided to sell the town to these players, and the negotiated price was for 500 gold. The sale was made official on May 3rd, 2022.

==== Heading to Norway ====
[[File:The Creation of Norway.png|thumb|The creation of Norway occurring on May 8th, 2022.]]
With the profit made from selling the two chunk town of Lisbon, BigshotWarrior and his friends then created the town of Trondheim, with the goal of creating the nation of Norway. With this head start, everyone involved mined as much as possible for the goal of creating the nation. With the generous donation of 200g from North_Paso, tony_83 was able to create the nation of Norway on May 8th, 2022. With this, Norway was the 55th nation created on TA, and one of the last nations to be made prior to the end of early access.

== Government ==

=== Overview ===
The Kingdom of Norway is a simple kingdom, ruled by BigshotWarrior. BigshotWarrior is the undisputed king of the realm, with anything he says or wants effectively being the law. As this may sound a bit tyrannical, it is actually far from it. The government, though simple and informal, is just a group of friends who discuss with BigshotWarrior about certain matters and how to go about it, with BigshotWarrior having the final say on the matter. A constitution may or may not be drafted for the foreseeable future, but in the meantime, it is a simple group of friends dedicated to having fun and being the best group it can be on TA.
