Nation Background

Wollaston is a nation loacted in Central Canada, nearby the real life borders of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The nation is named after Lake Wollaston, which was named after a tribal community. The name "Wollaston" derives from a tribal heirtage, with its meaning relating to farming and survival. The nation's capital is the city of Wollaston, and is currently run by familiar faces who ran the nation of the Canadian Rockies on EarthMC's Terranova.

History

Founding of the City

The city of Wollaston was founded by jtooch13, formerly known as xK1_, on January 13, 2024. An affiliate of tooch led to the town joining the nation of Ruperts Land, which at the time was owned by kountr. The town would quickly grow to 40 some chunks after the mass selling of mystery crates by jtooch, leaving him with nearly 3000 gold to work with. However, his inactivity during the months of March and April led to his account being 42'd, giving the town to a random recruit for nearly 2 months.

The Nation's Establishment

jtooch13 returned to the server in early June 2024, hoping to regain his town to form a nation for himself. The random recruit holding the town was set to be wiped in a number of days. However, a server shutdown and multi-day software revamp, leading to a pause in player status, caused the creation of the nation to be delayed even further. Finally, on June 27th, 2024, player status was unpaused, and the citizen holding the town was wiped, making tooch the mayor once again. Immediately after, the nation of Wollaston was founded. A day after the nation's establishment, the nation saw immediate growth. A number of citizens were recruited into homes in the capital city, while a couple others were able to make a town with the leftover funds tooch had from the nation. Cave Town was founded a day after the creation of Wollaston, making it the nation's second town. Growth was steady, but it would soon slow to a standstill entering the month of July.

The July Boom

The first week of July 2024 spelt great success for the Central Canadian nation. On July 2nd, the capital's population jumped from a mere 4 people to 16 in a day. Among these people was PopulistStraw, a founding father of the Canadian Rockies. Three days later, another familiar face would join the country. Aalovelyworld was a year long member of the Canadian Rockies, and a Co-Mayor to the town of Mount Jasper. Along with jtooch13, named the emperor of Wollaston, Straw and Aalovely, they'd be considered the first members of the Council of Wollaston. In the first week of July, Wollaston had gained over 30 new recruits, which also led to the founding of its third town, Hillsborough, led by xed333. In the next few days, two more old Terranova players were added to the nation's Council. PesosInhaler, formerly known as LawofRence, and BigBroPro0425, would be added to the ranks and would begin contributing towards Wollaston. By July 10th, the nation was sitting comfortably at dominion status, flying through the lowest levels in only 5 days. Its population would continue to skyrocket in the coming weeks.

Potato Power

With the population shooting through the roof, Wollaston was in need of an economic foundation and layout. Selling mystery crates gave the nation a heavy amount of abrupt income, but it was sure to run out in the near future. The idea of a shopping district quickly aroused. Downtown Wollaston was soon converted into shops, parks, info centers, and a church dedicated to the nation's religion of capybara. However, on top of all of this was the sudden growth and demand for farms, particularly potato farms. In a few days, over 10-15 chunks of farmland was constructed, with most of it being in underground layers. This vast amount of farmland would make the vast potato production in Wollaston plentiful and bountiful. With the speed and reliability of these crops, it was dubbed the potato capital of the world. Not only was the nation building up its shopping district, but was also riding heavily upon its potato economy. Dubs of potatoes were sold for 35-37g depending on whether they were raw or cooked. Prices were also calculated for single chest purchases, as well as prices to be purchased in rows. With the layout of the potato shop complete, the company of Wollaston Farms was introduced, led by the council and farmers of the nation. Wollaston was now the world's fastest and cheapest potato producer.
