The election is the second election to be held in Armenia. President Lovelyfurball, who was first elected in the April election, sought a second full term in office. Lovelyfurball was challenged by four candidates, representing several brand new political factions, some of which did not reside in the nation. Lovelyfurball's main opponent in the ensuing runoff election was Syrian King Ave2k, who ran a mostly meme-based campaign under the persona of "Saad Abdelaziz Ibn Ali Ismael". Ave2k, who was previously elected as a Developmental MP in the April parliamentary election, ran under the newly established Centralist Armenia Party, or CAP; however was labeled on the ballot as the "Terrorist Party".
