An officer of the Republic of Cascadia is a functionary of the executive or judicial branches of the national government of Cascadia to whom is delegated some part of the nation's sovereign power in some way or another. The term officer of the Republic of Cascadia is not a title, but a term of classification for a certain type of official.
Under the Appointments Clause of Article IV of the National Constitution, the principal officers of the Republic, such as judges, ambassadors, and "public ministers" (Cabinet members) are appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the House of Representatives, but the Legislature may vest the appointment of inferior officers to the president, courts, or department heads. Officers of the Republic of Cascadia should not be confused with employees of Cascadia, who lack the special legal authority of the former.
