The Rocky Mountain Federation is a meganation primarily based in North America that has existed since March 6th, 2023 and has undergone 4 different 'incursions' (eras). It is currently governed by an Oligarchy, with the public 'Head' of the nation being 8set.

History

Prehistory

As Cascadian politics bored the shit out of many players, and many citizens of Cascadia felt unrepresented and dissatisfied by the government inefficiency within Cascadia, the players 8set, Mudk2p, Billowysplash5, and Akeboun planned to peacefully secede from the Republic of Cascadia and form a new nation, Rocky_Mountains. The capital city was to be Banff, a key city in Cascadia's 'Great North' district at the time, owned by 8set (then named "EdgyIsRandom").

With a secession document finalized, and the discord fully set up, the group decided to found the nation at 8PM on March 5th, 2023, and so they did.

1st Incursion - "OG RMF" 

The First Era of the Rocky Mountain Federation, characterized by the Secession from Cascadia, The Summer Conflict, and the 2023 sale of Rocky_Mountains to RealLIMPOPO. March 6th 2023 - June 23 2023 Capital: Banff

Secession 

After the nation was founded, 8set published the secession document and had it posted to the news discord. He logged off for the night, unaware that Akeboun had actually been a spy for Cascadia, who, later that night, robbed Banff of ~500g worth of items and banned everyone from the original RMF discord. Upon waking up, 8set became aware of this fact and outlawed Akeboun from Banff, and set up a new discord (the one still in use today).

For the first few days after the secession, a state of undeclared war took place, with Cascadian government member AllStarPro90 griefing and placing mines around the wilderness of Banff. Cascadia also enacted an embargo against the RMF, to which the RMF responded with a counter-embargo and a public denouncement.

During negotiations, Cascadia claimed that the embargo and other hostile actions were caused by RMF not repaying the 416g they had taken from Cascadia's town funding system "CascAID" (later referred to as "CascAIDS" by the RMF leaders). The RMF leaders explained that had Cascadia simply asked for repayment, that they would do so, but because Akeboun had robbed them of more than that amount, they considered the debt to be paid. Cascadia's defense to this was that Akeboun had acted as a "Private Citizen", not on Cascadia's behalf (which, was later revealed to be false during the 3rd Incursion.)

Eventually, representatives from the Portuguese Empire (which RMF had joined after seceding to have more protection diplomatically) were invited to middleman a settlement between the RMF and Cascadia.

A week and a half after the secession, alongside some aggressive claiming by both Banff and its 'sister city' Avola, the Treaty of Banff was signed by 8set and (Cascadia's president at the time) Milgorn123, marking the end to the secession conflict. Within this treaty was a claims settlement, a NAP, and a voidance of all debts. RMF was also confirmed as a colony of the Portuguese Empire.

The Summer Conflict

(WIP) The town of Prince_George (alongside other Cascadian towns in the region) had the leaders of the RMF feeling as though they were being encircled by Cascadian settlements. Upon sending diplomatic envoys to the town, a diplomat was killed. Shortly afterwards, Prince George member and PvPer "WinterStars" went to Banff and challenged Billowysplash and Mudk2p to a fight, which he subsequently lost (likely due to his unfamiliarity with the laggy pvp of emc). In turn, 8set was sent to kill one of their citizens in retaliation, sparking a small conflict between Banff's federal guard and Prince George. As the skirmishes continued over the course of a few days, the RMF sent Kasana Clan reinforcements as well as other allied PvPers to assist their troops in their attack on the town. As this conflict waged on, the Cascadian Government enacted a "special travel zone" over the region (which was later met with a lot of humorous comments and criticisms).

During this time, the RMF joined and left the Turan Pact, joined the United Military Coalition (a successor to the Turan Pact), and made diplomatic arrangements with the Portuguese Empire and other nations.

RMF and Cascadian officials met multiple times to try and put an end to the conflict, to no effect. As a result, the Republic of Cascadia pulled out of the Treaty of Banff, removing the NAP and border restrictions from the RMF. A day later, the RMF formally declared war against Cascadia on grounds of hunting, hostile expansion, and usage of anti-RMF propaganda. Alongside this, screenshots leaked to the RMF leaders informed them of an attack by Cascadia that was planned during the Treaty of Banff. Within 24 hours of the RMF's declaration, Khazar, Honduras, the United Military Coalition, The Based Nations Defense Coalition all declared support for the RMF.

Over the next month, the RMF would continue hunting Cascadian citizens, poaching Cascadian towns, and expanding their land claims significantly in the Rocky Mountains and Yukon regions. During this time, the RMF forged new alliances with Japan, Arctic, Paraguay, Tripolitania, Laccadive_Sea, Poland, and Patagonia. The RMF also leaves the Portuguese Empire during this time, on good terms.

In May 2023, the RMF decided to take the fight to Cascadia and made a town called "Esti_Island" (now known as "Bakhmut") on the north border of Olympia in a small pocket of unclaimed land. This town became a hotspot for PvP between the nations, attracting attention and PvPers from all around EMC, leading to ganks being set up by both the RMF and Cascadia. TBI posted about fights at the town multiple times, only adding to the international attention it got. 8set made a name for himself by remaining undefeated throughout the entire conflict, as well as defeating many other prominent pvpers across the server, giving him a notoriously feared reputation.

In June, the RMF declared war on San Joaquin in a continuation of the conflict against Cascadia. Within 24 hours of the RMF's declaration, The Arctic Empire, Poland, and Don Host declared their support to this new war effort. A week later, on July 5th 2023, the conflict against San Joaquin was ended after their leader gave BillowySplash5 a spawner in exchange for peace.

As RMF involved itself in the UMC's war against Turkey and Caspian, the nation of Lena (who was on Tavi's side) began targeting 8set in combat. After opening diplomatic relations with Lena with Tavi present, Tavi revealed that he would rather have Lena as an ally over RMF. After a brief discussion with the other Oligarchs, the RMF announced that it would leave the UMC due to Tavi's personal interests dominating the alliance, alongside Tavi's betrayal of 8set.

Sale to RealLIMPOPO ; End of 1st Incursion

A week later, the RMF's first incursion came to an end as the nation was sold to Cascadian PvPer RealLIMPOPO. However, the sale was secretly a plot to scam Cascadia out of ~4.5k gold, formulated over a few days prior. 8set, BillowySplash5, and Mudk2p walked away from the sale with 1.6k gold each, and the RMF was reformed to the Rocky Mountain Brotherhood by RealLIMPOPO, beginning the second incursion.

2nd Incursion - "RMB" 

The Second Era of the RMF, characterized by RealLIMPOPO's new leadership, the Second Cascadian War, and the Deletion of Banff. Capital during this era was still Banff, renamed as "Black_Pines" and then later "Fish" before deletion.

Osoyoos Alliance

During the RMF's 2nd Incursion, 8set began communicating with different nations and assisting RealLIMPOPO in his continued conflict with Cascadia. Among the nations and groups he made contact with, one of the most pivotal and significant of these was the Osoyoos group, led by KARN4. A large political faction within Cascadia, they had aspirations to claim power and reform the nation. Their plan was simply to control the House of Representatives alongside the presidency, done easily due to the population they held and the size of their faction. However, knowing the possibility that the election results could be manipulated or some other factor impacting the result, KARN4 talked with 8set about the possibility for secession and what their options were. The election date came, and it was announced that the two major candidates had tied, and the assumption was made from the Osoyoos group that the election was lost. They organized a election ceremony to take place at Osoyoos, where they trapped and killed various high-ranking members of Cascadia. Afterwards, they deleted their towns and set up camp in Africa, under Chad. The alliance between the RMF and the Osoyoos faction made during this time would be an incredibly important in both the 3rd and 4th incursions of the RMF.

Continuance

Still feeling strongly after the Summer Conflict, the RMF (now under 8set's control) began a renewed campaign against Cascadia, using the historical siege town of Bakhmut (getting direct control again on December 23, 2023) to apply pressure and centralize the offensive into the Cascadian homeland. Within a week, 8set had doubled his territory with the acquisition of "WAGNER", created after a previously Cascadian town had fallen. Honoring a gentleman's agreement with scajamarsh, 8set did not overclaim into the (then-vulnerable) town of Copper, opting instead to solidify his territory and focus on helping other nations in the region take more ground.

4th Incursion - "RMF mk2" 

The 4th and current era of the RMF, characterized by significant change in foreign policy, internal reform, and the Arctic Pact.

A new capital

After acquiring the 375 chunk town of Polis for 1.4k, 8set rebuilt many of the damaged structures and rebuilt the town to be fit as a capital city. With help from KARN4, he was able to set up a large nation shop, apartments, and more. The town, going through a few names, was finally renamed to Dawnstar, and the nation renamed to Rocky_Mountains. It currently serves as the capital of the RMF, the Arctic Pact, and a regional capital of Denali.

Government

The RMF has historically been governed by an Oligarchy, however, the members of which have changed throughout the incursions. As of March 2025 (The 4th Incursion), the high council of the RMF is comprised of 12 members, and has employed a total of ~40 'enforcers' to carry out the will of the RMF through various means. The majority of council members and enforcers are kept secret to maintain operational security.

The public head of the nation is 8set, who handles the day-to-day operations and holds the most power in the council.

Military

The RMF's military has primarily been led by 8set, who rose to prominence during the Summer Conflict of 2023 for his unmatched skill and undefeated record.

The RMF still maintains a small force of PvPers to defend its towns, but does not have a federal military as of current.

Buildings

The Dawnstar Complex - Built over 2 years by various different players, the underground complex in Dawnstar serves as the government headquarters of the RMF as well as the Arctic Pact. It houses various builds, such as a Boat Racing track, a Star Wars hangar, a mass-storage area, a Senate room, a shop, and more.

Internal Subdivisions

The 4th Incursion of the RMF saw great advances in internal management and a reform to a more intelligence-based power. As such, the RMF holds both internal and external intelligence groups; 'internal' handles things within the RMF (and associated states), whereas the 'external' division is the larger, more geopolitically significant branch.

The External Intelligence Division is a loose label for the RMF's intelligence network throughout various nations, composed largely of 'Enforcers' and 'associates'. Some prominent examples of this force at work include the Greece & RSA vs Nubia conflict (where Greece's internal communications were consistently intercepted by the RMF through a previously setup spy network alongside some associates, and promptly sent to Nubia), the RMF's backdoor communications with various alliances (ADL, OFN, etc.), and more.

Notable People

• 8set - Incursions 1-4

8set is one of the founders of the RMF, and has been an important figure within the meganation throughout all 4 incursions. Despite a feared reputation in PvP, he has been a key component to the RMF's success diplomatically and internally. He currently serves as the Diplomatic Head of the RMF and the most powerful member of its high council.

• BillowySplash5 - 1st Incursion

BillowySplash5 is a founding member of the RMF, noted for his role in diplomatic affairs during the 1st Incursion. The shops run by Mudk2p and himself were the primary source of funding for the RMF when it began.

• Mudk2p - 1st Incursion

Mudk2p is a founding member of the RMF who ran the headshop and assisted in daily operation of the RMF during the 1st incursion.

• RealLIMPOPO - 2nd Incursion

RealLIMPOPO led the 2nd incursion of the RMF, under the title of the Rocky Mountain Brotherhood. He is noted for the theft of 4.5k gold from Cascadia as 8set and the original oligarchs left for Southeast Asia.

• KARN4 - Incursions 3-4

KARN4 is a controversial figure throughout EMC's community, loved by some and hated by others. His assistance and diplomatic connections helped return the RMF to what it is today during the 3rd and 4th incursions. He currently serves as a member of the high council, in charge of finances and administration.
