WifiShutters is a prominent Purest Pines resident who is relatively well-known throughout the whole of EarthMC. He has spent the bulk of his time on EarthMC in Purest Pines and affiliated towns, and is good friends with its mayor, InternetCurtains.

History

The following is WifiShutters' autobiography, edited by InternetCurtains and finished on 6 November 2025.

Genesis

11 September 2023. I had been searching hour of some sort of server to play endlessly, since I had just got a PC and didn't have Discord at the time. I ended up deciding to play this 'EarthMC', which sparked my interest due to its Earth map and surplus of players online. On the first day, out of pure boredom, I decided to play for an hour, just exploring and getting used to its excessive lag. Eventually, I got more bored, to which I left.

About four days later, I decided to join EarthMC again because I was still bored and wanted to talk to someone. After saying 'hello' in global chat, I immediately got a message from a player: MrX_1208, mayor of New Orthinia, Caspian. He asked me to join his town, to which I replied 'sure' for no reason, expecting to leave the server in due course and never join back. But this server was different; more... Alive.

I started mining, storing, and getting iron armour, and then exploring other towns, with one in particular which caught my eye: Houston, Texas. I decided that if MrX_1208 - the mayor of my town - didn't get on as much as I hoped, I would join Houston. After all, its mayor, LivingHumanBeing, seemed much more supportive and active. In the end, after leaving a marginally heartfelt sign saying 'sorry' in New Orthinia, I left for Houston.

This was the start of my more active life on EarthMC. I stayed in Texas for a couple of months, meeting several players, such as IanSpace71 (who has been playing since Classic) on one of his most popular streams. What followed was about a week's worth of constant cyberbullying, hunting, and trapping, directed at the whole of Houston. It was carried out by none other than Rodekeel, the notorious hunter from the former nation of Chad. This started off as simple hunting: just waiting with invisibility outside of town claims until residents left their plot. However, this soon became annoying. Eventually, the target wasn't just Houston: it became me.

I would teleport back to Rodekeel's town, asking to team so that I wouldn't be a target, but this just made it worse for me. His most popular trap, a giant wither rose pit, was used on me, luring me in via deception. This was when I became angry, and decided to say something in global about it. Really, this was merely saying that "they were trapping" and "being annoying". However, little did I know that this message would send me down a slippery slope, inadvertently leading to the slowest, most painful downfall of my entire life.

Renaissance

This is where my career on EarthMC became a fully-blown addiction, from just a simple hobby. When I sent that message in chat, a very well-known player, InternetCurtains, came to my aid. With me not knowing his experience on the server, I stupidly asked him whether he had x-ray on too, since I was using it to look at Rodekeel's trap. He corrected me quickly and let me know that x-raying is actually bannable and best not done. Seeing someone whom genuinely wanted to help me kind of felt like a luxury, so I decided that I would join his town: Purest Pines, Cree.

Nadir

Once I joined Purest Pines, I felt at home. Sometimes, I would join the server randomly to message InternetCurtains "hehe" and then hide somewhere in the town. This would continue for a little while - until he would bring out the netherite armour. For some reason, this sparked an idea in my twelve-year-old head to make a video about it. Unfortunately, this video is lost to time and cannot be recovered. Essentially, though, it was a mini-manhunt, with me just hiding for half of its duration, and eventually gaining the confidence to come out of my hiding spot, just to get killed almost immediately.

This sort of practice became a trend, to the point at which I would stay up past 01:00, sneaking from my parents just to play a game. After a while of this, around May 2024, InternetCurtains dropped a bomb on me: he announced that he needed to study and subsequently wouldn't be playing as often as he once did. This sparked a new series of events, starting off with sleep deprivation. I started doing terribly in school, since I was so tired, to the point at which I had 45 missing assignments from classes. This was becoming a problem, and I started becoming depressed, since I really didn't have many other friends to play with at the time.

My sleep deprivation became a serious problem around September 2024, when I became so tired and had so many problems going on at once that I decided to fake my own death. My reasoning was that this would make me become disinterested in EarthMC and eventually quit it. In the process, I made a very close friend quit the server himself, and many others upset over such a stupid, fraudulent reason.

Capstone

On 31 January 2025, I revealed that I was still alive. By that point, I was sleeping correctly, and I wasn't staying up past 22:00 to play EarthMC. My school grades were peaking and I was relatively mentally stable. Around this time, InternetCurtains didn't have any studies to do, so we started playing and talking again, more as friends than ever before. We would play EarthMC, along with several other servers such as WorldMC.

As of time of writing, InternetCurtains has studies again, but there won't be a complete mental breakdown like last time.
