This article is part of a series on the Alaskan Empire.

In the Alaskan Empire, a province was a constituent political entity, of which there were six. Bound together in a political union, each province held governmental jurisdiction over a separate and defined geographic territory where it shared its sovereignty with the Emperor. Due to this shared sovereignty, Alaskans were citizens both of the Empire and of the province in which they resided. Province citizenship and residency were flexible, and no government approval was required to move between provinces.

Province leaders in Alaska were given power directly by the Emperor. Provinces and their leaders possessed many powers and rights in the Alaskan lords council. Citizens and their needs were expected to be represented by their respective province leaders.

Generally, town borders throughout the Empire were not limited by provincial borders, and no effort was made to ensure that the province borders matched the town borders. On top of this, construction projects often crossed province borders without any repercussions.

The province system came into effect after player BetaPlain proposed the idea to the Alaskan Lord's Council. Following a long series of discussion lasting multiple days, the decision was made to implement a six province system on 11 October 2019.

Alaska would later add the province of Bering Strait, making the 7th province in the Alaskan Empire.

Although Alaska appeared split between the nations of Kodiak, Yukon, and Alyeska, the three towny nations were united under the Alaskan Empire. The nation of Cascadian Alaska was not a member of the Empire but joined the Empire on 12 September 2020.

The province system of governance was replaced with a new duchy system on 18 December 2020.
