New York is a technocratic city and nation state located in the Northeast United States, with it's capital being New York City. It has a geography that is centered on the Atlantic Coast in New York Bay, Massachusetts Bay, Cape Cod Bay, New Jersey Coast as well as the Great Lakes surrounding Lake Ontario, and Quebec around Lake Manicouagan. The nation is contiguous except for it's territories in Quebec. With a total active population of 400 as of August 20th, 2026, New York is an incredibly centralized and dense nation geographically and by population with major centers surrounding New York City and Micoua. New York is the 21st most populous nation globally, and 5th on the North American continent.
The City & State of New York operates as a technocratic city based council discarding traditional state and federal level structures for a more localized one. Authority is vested in the Chairman, Deputy Mayors, and City Council. As of August 20th, 2026 a provisional city charter provides the outline for city operations, with a fully drafted charter expected by years end. The state is divided into four distinct autonomous districts which oversee administrative government within their sovereign territories, with only foreign affair and military powers held exclusively by the state.
A highly developed community and country, New York has become a community hub for former Aurora Cascadians, with active voice chats held regularly as well as game nights. It is highly centralized around New York City and focuses on diplomacy, mercantilism, and friendship as some of its core values. New York is a leader in the diplomatic space, brokering the Memphis Accords as well as the currently in progress Monroe Accords.
History
Pre-Reset
The concept for the city of New York dates back to early 2025 among the primary branch of the ruling family of New York since Nova, the Wintours. During December 2025 - February 2026 plans began to formulate for the creation of the city and nation with plans becoming somewhat public within the Republic of Cascadia. In March of 2026 a diversion campaign was launched to hide the true location that the Wintours would create their nation, with a diversion set for Vermont. This was then cleared up to those confused on April 23rd after the creation of New York City.
Founding, Expansion & Diplomacy
New York City was founded on April 17th, 2026 by Hambellux, immediately the city served as a gateway for Acadian, American, and Sunbelt individuals to reach their towns during the great reset rush. The city reached 61 chunks within the first day, as a rush to claim the land that New York City geographically located on was prioritized above all else. For a time, this made New York City the largest town by townblocks on the server. Mayorality was transferred to wishful_ once joined.
The Nation of New York was then founded on April 23rd, 2026 by wishful_ to an audience of 15 discord guests and 15 in-game guests at the then recently completed Statue of Liberty, which had not fully oxidized by this point. Notable foreign individuals who attended the founding were Ahea, Dracnoian, Bergenline, melvinm4, BlueRedStone_, EmpressCorgo, Princeling7, MetroMapleLeaf9 and mikesworldus. The nation creation was made possible through a 1.3k donation by Joigrama.
On May 3rd 2026, the State of New York as a governmental entity was created when the town of Hudson, led by Griff___ joined New York. This expanded the originally envisioned scope of the nation from New York City, to the entirety of New York State. Immediately the next day on May 4th, 2026 the citizens of New York in a 13-6-4 vote selected a flag for the City and State.
On May 12th 2026, the town of Brooklyn (located in New Jersey) was bombed. As the town fell to ruin, the mayor set up an elaborate observer trap exploding 20-30 blocks of TNT leveling the town and killing Deputy Mayor Griff___ in the process.
On May 18th 2026, the design for the Brooklyn Bridge was completed, and construction began. Construction as of August 2026 still has not been completed due to the New York community experiencing burnout post-founding and numerous grief attempts on the Bridge.
On May 21st 2026, Battery Park was completed, creating the new nation spawn for New York until the World Trade Center site is completed, which is expected to open in September 2026.
On May 26th 2026, New York ratified the Memphis Accords, a landmark border agreement involving Acadia, America, Texas, United States Empire, Florida, & Mexico. Notably, the Republic of Massachusetts declined to join the treaty yet was still drawn borders as a non-participant and had these borders recognized by those nations that did sign. This agreement was brokered through diplomatic channels by Chairman wishful_.
On May 29th, 2026 Pope BenedictXVIII visited New York City and was given a tour by Deputy Mayor 4Floppa, the city was then blessed by his holiness. Likewise on this day New York City became the most populated city on the server with 184 residents.
On June 19th, 2026 New York and Acadia signed the Vista Accords, establishing a very close alliance between the two states, as both had shared history and friendships prior to the server reset.
For the remainder of June and July 2026, activity came to a decline after the burnout required to garner the gold and materials to establish the city and state.
North American Arab Spring
During the ending weeks of July, the Republic of Massachusetts merged into the then American breakaway state of USA, based in Delaware. This came after the then leader, Jacquemon, quit the server as a result of New Yorker and Acadian intervention in the American-Massachusetts alliance, which was promptly voided after American diplomats met with Acadian and New Yorker diplomats, led by then Ambassador to America, Ahea. After the American victory against the Turkish-led USA in the Battle of Vither State on August 2nd, the USA was placed for sale and under the sovereign independent administration of Deputy Mayor 4KayP7. As many of the Massachusetts towns had been transferred to owners aligned with the Turkish led USA, upon their departure many of these towns went for sale. Salem was acquired on August 2nd, 2026 as well as the town of Springfield, which was merged with Salem. During the week of August 9th, 2026 New York considered a purchase of the USA, which would have seen it brought into the State as the Autonomous District of Cheseapeake. Ultimately the decision was made to withdraw from the 15,000 gold purchase as it would have required substantial debt to finance. New York was able to however acquire the town of Boston on August 16th, the town of NewYork on August 19th, and the town of New Jersey on August 20th. New York also acquired the town of New York on August 11th from beefour, who had established the town on May 14th.
After much inactivity in city wide construction, on August 14th, 2026 Vice Chairman Hambellux completed construction on the 9/11 memorial pools, of which are expected to be dedicated on September 11th, 2026.
On August 15th, 2026 then Prime Minister of Acadia Bergenline, as well as then President ka_tie left the Republic of Acadia over irreconcilable differences with the larger Acadian community which had become centered around governmental bureaucracy, a stark cultural difference from Micouan culture which prioritized community and friendship over internal politics. Following their departure, the towns of Micoua, Stormhaven (led by then Finance Minister melvinm4), and Thunderdome joined New York immediately finding it to be more culturally aligned than Acadia. On August 19th, 2026 the town of Quail was purchased and joined New York, and the town of Sterling owned by 404aka also joined likewise citing irreconcilable differences with members of the Acadian community.
Immediately the next day on August 16th, 2026 as the Chicago crisis took over the Commonwealth of America which was likewise traced back to irreconcilable differences between the Chicago and American community., the city of Chicago left America temporarily and joined New York until the establishment of their own nation called Heartlands (soon after renamed to Chicagoland), of which shares close personal and cultural ties with New York. On August 17th, 2026 many towns within the state of New Jersey, led by MsX1208, tracing heritage back to Caspian on Aurora, joined New York after the aftermath of the Chicago crisis in America. At points, many towns within Pennslyvania also considered joining New York, but ultimately remained within America.
The aftermath of the crisis' that enveloped both Acadia and America, as well as the collapse of Massachusetts and sale of USA expanded the territory of New York considerably, consolidating Massachusetts and New Jersey firmly under New Yorker control as well as expanding significant territory in Quebec acquiring all towns surrounding Lake Manicouagan.

The City & State of New York operates under a technocratic system, with individuals being appointed to city council and deputy mayoral positions after it is determined that they are qualified. The Chairman, as well as the Deputy Mayors likewise simultaneously are on the city council.
