The eighty-fifth government of the North Sea Republic, also known as the Cubz government, was the last and final government of the North Sea Republic, serving briefly on the evening of September 1, 2024. The government was led by Cubz__ as the 65th Hoyenah of the North Sea Republic, with 4whatok, Oce_78 and Proser being chiefs. The government was formed as a result of the general election held on the day of September 1, taking office after Hoyenah Cubz was inaugurated by Election Administrator LoganC. The government lasted 52 minutes, before the declaration of Independence of the Icelandic Commonwealth that led to the effective end of the government. Following the secession of the Icelandic Commonwealth including Hoyenah Cubz__, Chief Oce_78, and Chief 4whatok, the Hoyenah who headed the preceding NSR government, Spencer54, unilaterally assumed authority and dissolved the North Sea Republic, ending over 7 years of continuous democracy in the NSR.

Structure

The political structure of the North Sea Republic operated under a concept of tricameralism, with three distinct organs of government that held equal power in decision-making but each holding veto authority over another. The government was headed by the Hoyenah, who was directly elected by instant runoff voting on a national popular vote. The Hoyenah was assisted by the Chiefs, who acted as a executive-legislature hybrid of the nation and numbered between three or five, and were elected nationally alongside the Hoyenah by a nonpartisan form of proportional representation. The Hoyenah and the majority of the chiefs have equal power, and if neither branches agree the public acts as a tie breaker in a public vote. Governments in the NSR had a term of one month, with elections being held at the start of each month.

September 2024 Hoyenah election

Elections were held in the North Sea Republic on 1 September 2024 to elect the Hoyenah for a one-month term. The incumbent Hoyenah, Spencer54, did not seek re-election to a second consecutive term as the Republic's chief executive. Six candidates fielded themselves for the office of Hoyenah. Two of the candidates were incumbent sitting chiefs within the previous government, being Cubz__ and EmpressChloe. Other candidates included San Francisco Mayor NFISH2021, Oce_78, bubison, and DJMinorMC.

28 votes were cast across the Republic, establishing a quota of 15 votes needed to win. No candidate received a majority of first-preference votes, leading to the lowest candidates being eliminated continuously until the only two candidates left were Chiefs EmpressChloe and Cubz__. In the final count, the result was a tie of 14 votes to 14 votes. However, in line with the constitution and electoral precedent of the Republic, the victorious candidate was the candidate in the tie that received the largest number of first-preference votes, in that case being Cubz__.

Cubz__ was formally invited to form a government as the 65th Hoyenah of the North Sea Republic by Election Administrator LoganC at 7:16 PM Pacific Time on September 1, 2024, and accepted.

September 2024 Chiefs election

Elections were held in the North Sea Republic on 1 September 2024 to elect three Chiefs for a one-month term via a "Support Intensity Instant Runoff Election". Hoyenah candidates Cubz__ and EmpressChloe were the only incumbent chiefs to stand for re-election as Chief. 11 citizens fielded themselves as candidates, dramatically less than the 21 candidates in the previous election held one month prior.

In order to be elected, a candidate must receive a Hare quota of 10 votes, the nearest vote total above 1/3 of total votes cast. The victorious initial candidates were Cubz__, 4whatok, and Proser. Due to the election and acceptance of Cubz__ as Hoyenah, his seat was filled by the next-highest polling candidate, which was Oce_78.

The Icelandic Commonwealth is declared among provinces and towns separating from the NSR.

As a result of significant political instability and infighting within the North Sea Republic over a variety of pressing issues, many provinces, including those that contained many government officials such as Hoyenah Cubz__, seceded from the North Sea Republic and organized the Icelandic Commonwealth. The provinces included Iceland, Scotland, Monaco, South California, Illinois, and the towns of Limerick, Cork, Dublin, Waterford, Boston, and Oban.

The North Sea Republic is dissolved by Spencer54.

As a result of a majority of the government having left the North Sea Republic, the outgoing Hoyenah of the previous government, Spencer54, declared the North Sea Republic dissolved shortly thereafter after consulting with the Governor of the United Kingdom, the last major remaining province of the NSR.

The North Sea Republic was succeeded in large part by the Icelandic Commonwealth and United Kingdom respectively. The North Sea Republic was succeeded as the longest continuously existing democracy and republic on EarthMC by the Republic of Cascadia.
