== Battles Fought == | |||
No actual battles were fought in this conflict. All actions were diplomatic. One player from Scandinavia was injured when a small riot broke out in the general chat of the EMC-Aurora server on 2 January.
== Peace Negotiations ==
On 2 January at 22:15, Scandinavia announced that they viewed the OFN declaration of war as invalid as the two groups were involved in negotiations related to Finnmark's diplomatic status with Scandinavia. Hours later, an announcement from CFRhino was released. In this statement, it was announced that Scandinavia would consider the action taken against Lapland on 1 January as invalid, the reason being provided that Scandinavia's leader was intoxicated at the time of the declaration, and therefore was not willing to risk a wide-spread war as was viewed as happening with the rapid declarations. Approximately 20% of held chunks on the server were held by nations that had declared war on Scandinavia.
As such, all nations involved ceased hostilities while peace negotiations ensued. However, thoughts of a proxy war arose in the later part of January 2025 during the Savoie War of Independence, as many of the same nations that participated in the events of the Winter Surprise joined opposing sides in the Savoie War. Scandinavia is believed to quietly support Savoie in their pursuit of territorial expansion in Europe.
== Scandinavia Controversy ==
Scandinavia is viewed to be a "troll nation" by some commentators on EarthMC. Some of these commentators claim that a lot of the crises that Scandinavia finds itself in is a result of the desire of some of its leaders wanting to see Scandinavia be featured on The Blockbuster Insider. Data records of TBI posts from 1 December 2024 to 3 January 2025 were pulled on 3 January 2025 by EMC Wiki Writers. This data indicates that 288 articles were released by TBI, and Scandinavia was involved in just under 10% of those articles.
