Ethiopia, officially the Republic of Ethiopia is a nation located in the Horn of Africa Region in East Africa, Terra Aurora. It was originally founded on October 12, 2024 by SlipperySalmon14, colloquially known as Salmon. It is currently co-owned by DizzyLP1 and oj_capische. The president is elected at the beginning of each month, as of October 2025, the president is SamTheSigmaMan_. Key Towns include Amhara, Elysium, Copper 9, UBW, Aksum, Korea, Bulen, Xerxes, etc. It is bordered by Nubia by towns, while in claims it's bordered by Nubia to the north and west, and Somalia to the east. With the seventh largest population, growing significantly through recruiting projects. The Meganation consists of Ethiopia, Turkana, DRC, and Tanzania.

Relations with Nubia and Somalia have been heavily sour for a considerable piece of it's existence, especially after the failed purchase of Old Addis Ababa (now known as 'Orthinia Eschate'). Ethiopia is based of its real life counterpart, The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, its population is distinctively many ethnic and religious groups, though the timezones are majorly American working timezones. It has a 100 chunk nation bonus due to its population.

Ethiopia, formerly known as 'Ethiopian Empire' originated in the Horn of Africa, from a town called Holeta, founded by NestleBad and SlipperySalmon14, over the next few months, it saw massive growth, transforming into the Ethiopian Empire, then Orientale, until finally settling into the current Ethiopian Republic. Recently, Dizzy and Oj assumed control of Ethiopia following the resigning of Salmon and Bugs, caused by the capital of Elysium mistakenly being ceded to a Nubian holder, twomoo1119. Under this new leadership, relations with Nubia have become peaceful, even signing a non-agression pact recently.

Since the name is shared with the real life counterpart of Ethiopia, you may know for a fact that tradition holds that, "Ethiopia"(Amharic: ኢትዮጵያ) comes from the name of the first king of Ethiopia, Ethiop, or Ethiopis.

Real-life Ethiopian Scholar, Ayele Berkerie explains:

According to an Ethiopian tradition, the term Ethiopia is derived from the word Ethiopis, a name of the Ethiopian king, the seventh in the ancestral lines. Metshafe Aksum or the Ethiopian Book of Aksum identifies Itiopis as the twelfth king of Ethiopia and the father of Aksumawi. The Ethiopians pronounce Ethiopia እትዮጵያ with a Sades or the sixth sound እ as in incorporate and the graph ጰ has no equivalent in English or Latin graphs. Ethiopis is believed to be the twelfth direct descendant of Adam. His father is identified as Kush, while his grandfather is known as Kam.

Seen in the 15th century Book of Axum, the name is given to a legendary individual known as 'Itiyopp'is', who was a biblical son of Cush. Believed to have founded the city of Axum in real life. Though the nation was historically known as 'Abyssinia' as an exonym, it came to be known as 'Ethiopia'.

Physical Geography

Ethiopia is located in the Horn of Africa in EMC, dozens of mining operations on the east have made the area dull and uninhabitable, paired together with several town ruins lying in the area, Ethiopia has many lakes, most notably is the lake north of Amhara (Known as Lake Fishigan), which said town has claimed all the chunks within. This lake is the primary location of many Amhara fishing parties, while a heavy part of the land is mountain ranges, surrounded by the jungle biome in central west Ethiopia, and in the edge of the nation there's a plains biome before crossing into the Nile River, where part of the border between Nubia and Ethiopia lie. Towns are large in size, most of Central-West Ethiopia is claimed under towns, Most towns elevate and flatten their areas, such as Bulen and Copper 9 (whose town is predominantly stone). While other towns remain fixed to the original elevations of the map, like Amhara, Elysium, UBW, and Novaha. In contrast, the east and south is predominantly a desert biome, with much podzol to obtain, The north is also a Desert biome, bordering a plains biome. Although most of the lakes are owned by Nubia, many are under Ethiopian Control.

Political Geography

Ethiopia's Territory is notably larger in comparison to its real life counterpart, with over 2600 chunks, the majority of the horn of Africa is under Ethiopian control, the nation has control over 11 administrative divisions, two of which are located entirely outside of the mainland of Ethiopia, being the divisions of Tanzania and Congo, while the mainland has the divisions of Sudan, Amhara, Aksum, Oromiya, Western Ethiopia, Somali, Somaliland, and Somalia (which has an exclave in Arabia).

Demographics

The nation functions in American working timezones, though there is some activity at opposite ended timezones, the population consists various religious groups, Atheism and Christianity (catholic and orthodox) are prevalent, as well as other minor groups of Irreligion, Islam and Agnosticism. The vast majority of respondents were male, with some female and non-binary respondents as well.

History

Holeta

Shortly after the beginning of Salmon's travels through Africa someplace in August 2024 after meeting up with NestleBad, together they created the town 'Holeta', under Nubia at the time. Holeta was formerly just Nestle and Salmon's main base, but they eventually renamed the town to 'Addis Ababa'. Addis Ababa expanded significantly south, flattening a mountain that used to be located in the area, becoming one of Nubia's largest towns, though they left the main Nubian Nation to join Tanzania on October 7, 2024. This Tanzanian era lasted short, because 4 days after, on October 12 2024 Salmon created the Ethiopian Nation, under the name 'Ethiopian Empire'.

OG Ethiopia

By this point the main ownership of Ethiopia was held by Salmon and Nestle, but there were some key members such as TheRedDino_, dave_the_ghost and others. DizzyLP1 joined the nation on October 14, on the same day the first Ethiopian Elections were held. Effectively creating several ministries within Ethiopia. Hunters kept terrorizing Ethiopia during it's early days, causing some issues for it's residents. Tanzania and Ethiopia declared war on Zaire on October 24, 2024 after some conflict. On November 6, 2024 Ethiopia bought the nation of 'Afrika', though integrated it into a new meganation under Ethiopia.

Meganation Era

One day after the purchase of Afrika, someone who had randomly /res friended Salmon, OnigiriChanQwQ infiltrated Ethiopian Vaults and stole over 1.5k gold ingots, Salmon did not know that people added through the friend system had trust in your towns. So he begun a desperate search for more gold to recover from the huge blow. With this, a national mining party commenced to regain the lost treasury.

Conflict with Dervish and Somalia

Baidoa was an Ethiopian town, led by DOBPlayzThis, however this town was very near the Somalian Capital, Kismayo, which caused 77Dervish(the leader of Somalia) to get irritated at the sight of a town in his claims, who later on went to complain in the Ethiopia Discord. Several other towns were planted in the Somalian Claims, though these claims were preposterously larger than any land area controlled by Dervish, Dervish threatened several mayors in his 'claims' with saying that Ethiopia was 'Filthy' and that Somalia and Nubia were better nations. Salmon started warning the mayors about Dervish's plans, which weren't in Somalian interest.

Late 2024

Addis Ababa reached 200 chunks on November 12 2024. An Ice Highway connecting the towns at the time was built during November 24.

In November 27, Salmon announced he was taking a break from EMC for a few weeks, turning TheRedDino_ and NestleBad into defacto leaders. Though he came back in early December, it is also at this point in time where Salmon and NestleBad started to overclaim the town of Bendigo, owned by the now defunct nation of 'Ethiopia', an Aurora nation which had been inactive for months. The overclaim concluded in December 9, 2024.

xnyzuuku, who was mayor of Quahog left EarthMC on December 27, 2024. DizzyLP1 held a drop party in Copper 9 around this time.

Dizzy and RedDino

DizzyLP1 decided to leave Ethiopia because of the belief TheRedDino_ was a racist, since he had been saying racial slurs in voice channels through the Discord, this made Dizzy incredibly uncomfortable, and on January 2, 2025 Dizzy created a document explaining her leave of EMC and asked Salmon to find a new mayor, Salmon did not find a new mayor and Dizzy eventually decided to stay on February 2025, but became severely inactive after having unrelated personal issues.

Orientale

On January 7, 2025, Tanzania, Malawi and Ethiopia signed a formal pact to unite under a new nation Called 'East African Federation', however this nation name was shortly given a 2.1 name change by EMC moderation. It was then renamed to 'Orientale'. On February 7, Orientale finally left the Third Nubian Empire in good terms, the Senate was created on February 15, and on February 23, Orientale finished overclaiming western china, and looted the nation chests. On March 2nd, SalC1 made his video about duping in EMC, in which Salmon appears. The Meganation was finally sold to Nubia on March 5, 2025, marking the end of the era considered as the Original Ethiopia.

Nubia

During the timespan in which the main Ethiopian towns joined Nubia, Addis Ababa was sold to MrX_1208, who renamed the town to 'Orthinia Eschate'. Salmon spent a brief span of time owning the Emirates nation, as well as Tahoe, a Cascadian town, before leaving EMC to join a different Towny server. Not many events occurred during this era, but it was a dark age.

Current Era

On July 11, 2025, Salmon and BugsBunny8907 returned to the Ethiopian area, and created a new nation called 'Ethiopia', this is the current iteration of the nation. The ruins of two towns, Asgori and Alkebulan were where Salmon and Bugs created the towns of Addis Ababa and Elysium, on July 26, Bugs assumed leadership of the Nation after Salmon was given for free the nation of Ukraine though he returned to Ethiopia a few weeks later, which on August 1st joined the Empire of Coob meganation, Mersa and several former Ethiopian towns were bought back during August. Around this point Salmon and Bugs started attempting to purchase the town of Orthinia Eschate, whose offers were denied by MrX. Nubian negotiation tactics for the town deemed unsuccessful, Dizzy returned to being active on EMC at around this time, who then joined Ethiopia on August 10.

Minnesota

In August 1, Minnesota's Leader, Meekgloomygoat started spreading misinformation in the global chat, claiming 'Bugs and Ethiopia were scammers', stemming from a joke said in global. Minnesota attempted to declare war on Ethiopia, but was rejected by the nation due to this being a declaration coming from an untrue reason, Minnesota kept spreading the same misinformation, while sending hunters to Ethiopia, provoked, Bugs declared war on Minnesota on August 4, immediately, Minnesota started requesting for this war to be abstained, DMing the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Norwegian Empire, who were part of the war too. Eventually the Holy Order recalled their declaration of war, ending the conflict, though relations with Minnesota continue to be tense.

Nubian Conflict

Ethiopia withdrew from Saudi Arabia on August 15. Following this Nubia continued to reject all negotiations for Orthinia Eschate. Nubia sent hunters, targeting Ethiopian Citizens, and even banned Salmon from their server, outraged, he publicly denounced Nubia, which responded by placing claim blocks towns within Ethiopian Claims, despite this, Salmon and Bugs still attempted to continue negotiations for the town, despite being rejected multiple times. Around this time, Ethiopia joined the Ecumene Pact.

On September 28, 2025. Ethiopia denounced Uzbekistan following a failed attempt at a war declaration, and on October 12th, 2025, Ethiopia celebrated it's first anniversary.

New Dawn

On October 19, 2025, demode-kainat, a prominent person in Ethiopia was tricked into handing over Elysium to Twomoo1119, who is a high-level Nubian official. Bugs and Salmon shortly after resigned, and gave power to Dizzy and Oj_capische. Under their leadership relations with Nubia became peaceful, as of now, the capital is still being held by twomoo1119.

Towns

The towns in Ethiopia, are stylistically diverse. Towns are usually led by a Mayor, most of which are Nobility. The vast majority of Ethiopian Towns are located on the western side, with much fertile and green lands, though there are several towns in the east, where real-life Somalia would lie, as well as Aksum, located in real-life Eritrea.

Elysium

Elysium is the main capital city of Ethiopia, its holder is currently twomoo1119, though the town thoroughout most of Ethiopian history was held by BugsBunny8907 before he resigned. It is the second most populated town in the entire server, given Bugs' recruiting operations. It is 402 chunks large, making it the same size as Amhara, and the biggest in Ethiopia, and was founded on July 11 2025, the same day as current Ethiopia. It is based on the ruins of an unknown town that was in the same place during 2023/2022. The architecture seems about a mixture of modern, with some skyscrapers, as well as more traditionally styled builds.

Amhara

Amhara is one of the mayor towns in Ethiopia, it is owned by SlipperySalmon14, with 402 chunks it is the largest legitimately owned Ethiopian town, along with Elysium. It used to be the largest by population, but was later dethroned by Elysium. The architecture seems more diverse/medieval, with roadways being pathways of grass paths serving as 'roads'. It has a lake in the north and consistently holds fishing parties for the entire server. Amhara was founded on August 15, 2025.

Copper 9

The Autonomous Dominion of Copper 9, or just 'Copper 9' is the only autonomous district of Ethiopia, it is owned by DizzyLP1, with 146 chunks it is the only major landlocked town. With only 9 residents, it's population density is incredibly low. The architecture is majorly based around brutalist architecture of real-life east Europe, there is no soil, and most of the ground is pure stone. Copper 9 was founded in August 13, 2025. Although, this is for the 'New Copper 9', as it used to exist in Old Ethiopia as 'Copper 9', and in Nubia as 'Elindil', led by an unknown user. Copper 9 is an Autonomous district, due to the fact that DizzyLP1 and RedDino_ had a major conflict, leading Dizzy to wish to associate less with the Ethiopian Community, today this label is only symbolic and does not retain much value as it's government is still just like all of the other towns.

Mersa

Mersa is the oldest town in Ethiopia, the mayor is oj_capische, created in August 12, 2024, and has 12 residents and 124 chunks. The Architecture is incredibly unique, it is not linked to much known styles, with it's town hall underground encased in glass, and a massive residential area spanning the rest of the town, with a large cactus farm on the exterior.

UBW

Unlimited Blade Works (Commonly abbreviated as UBW) is a town in Ethiopia led by Scawy_Reaper, with 2 residents and 90 chunks, it is a very low population density town. It's architecture style is very medieval, Though it has two twin towers acting as a farm, the outer design is very stylized, and it currently holds an ongoing project for an underground village, still being built by the mayor. It is said to be one of the most unique towns.

Bulen

Bulen used to be a small military base in a mountain to set peace terms with Nubia, our enemy nation. It is currently lead by Kouzarith the new town mayor making the outstand from its potential. Bulen was also founded in August 16th 2025, by Tidalsleet1138. Town is still recently new to change and it is current WIP, though there isn't any residents so far, Kouzarith is looking to soon recruit people for this up and growing town.

Government

The government is primarily led by the Emperors, Elections occur at the beginning of each month, where the President, Vice President and the Ministers are elected. Usually, to campaign you must be a citizen, and answer the google form. Decisions are largely held by the Senate, where most ideas are voted by members of the Senate, forming a large structure, while the departments and ministries do work assigned to them.

The Chancellors are the main irreversible heads of state, unless chosen to be removed, they are the key people and first to answer to diplomatic issues such as war, denouncements, etc.

President

The president is the head of state, they second Chancellor in power and most internal decision will go to them.

This is the right hand of the president.

The Senate is conformed of Representatives of the Nation, usually more internal and external diplomatic decisions are held to a vote in the Senate, such as alliances, and creations of new departments. Voting is held in a Discord channel, the members of the Senate are appointed by the upper government.
