Rovaniemi

Rovaniemi was a town located in northern EarthMC, originally founded in Lapland. Throughout its existence, it played an important political, economic, and infrastructural role across several nations, including Åland, Lapland, Suomi, Scandia, Tavastia, and later New Suomi. The town was eventually renamed 0pal.

Founding and Early History

When Hubba (Hubbayes) returned to Finland on EarthMC, he initially planned to establish a town in Turku. However, the area was already claimed by Åland. He instead traveled north into Lapland, where he founded the town of Rovaniemi.

At the time of founding, Hubba lacked sufficient gold to create the town. His friend from Brazil, Aralziya, provided the necessary funds, allowing Rovaniemi to be officially established.

Shortly afterward, the leader of Åland visited Rovaniemi and requested that the town join the nation. Unfamiliar with server politics and intimidated by the leader’s appearance in full netherite armor, Hubba agreed, and Rovaniemi became part of Åland.

Lapland Independence Movement

After joining Åland, Hubba contacted a nearby town owner, Rek3k, and invited him and his friend The_Estonian_Guy] to Rovaniemi’s newly built sauna. Only The_Estonian_Guy attended.

During discussions, dissatisfaction with Åland’s leadership was expressed, and the idea of forming a new nation emerged. Hubba agreed with the proposal. Shortly afterward, The_Estonian_Guy created a Discord server for the future nation.

A neighboring mayor, Terrafire36, was invited and agreed to join. The three signed a treaty committing to financial cooperation, funding the future nation, and constructing roads and ice highways between member towns.

Åland Crackdown

When Åland’s leader 9DF learned of the independence movement, he responded aggressively. Members of the PvP community were allegedly encouraged to target Lapland-affiliated players who left their towns, resulting in many players losing valuable items.

During one attack on Rovaniemi by Venezuelan hunters, Hubbayes detonated TNT inside one of his own buildings in front of several Lapland members in an attempt to deter attackers.

Formation of Lapland and Economic Ventures

Following diplomatic talks between The_Estonian_Guy and the North Sea Republic, the North Sea Republic agreed to fund the creation of the nation of Lapland.

Seeing opportunity in the growing nation, Hubbayes proposed creating a bank to store valuable items. He partnered with Christwentyeight, who designed the bank building and assisted in setting up a Discord server. Despite advertising efforts, the bank failed to attract users and was abandoned.

Concrete Business

Hubbayes later founded a bulk concrete business. Christwentyeight joined the operation, creating advertisements and a logo. Together they developed semi-automatic concrete machines, mined their own resources, and produced dyes independently.

The business became one of the most successful shops in Lapland, generating significant profits.

Political Career and Fall of Lapland

After business activity slowed, Hubbayes and Christwentyeight pursued political power. Christwentyeight was elected President of Lapland, while Hubbayes entered Parliament after multiple attempts.

They later discovered that the presidency held little real authority, as The_Estonian_Guy retained control of the capital and Discord server. A successful vote to relocate the capital was ignored, leading to political collapse.

Creation of Suomi

Hubbayes, Christwentyeight, Mentalecho, and CatboyHoratio began saving gold to create a new nation. The nation, Suomi, was founded on 13 June 2023. Christwentyeight funded two-thirds of the creation cost.

A short war with Lapland followed but was later called off after griefing incidents.

Leadership Change (May 28, 2024)

On 28 May 2024, Smarket resigned as leader of Suomi. Rovaniemi was transferred to Mr_Immortal_X, while national leadership was given to Rek3k.

This marked the beginning of a new era for Rovaniemi.

Rovaniemi Era II (May 28, 2024 – February 14, 2025)

Under Mr_Immortal_X, Rovaniemi experienced infrastructural development and diplomatic stabilization.

Notable Events

• 5 August 2024 – Appointed Chief Minister of Infrastructure in Scandia. A resident named Kellen_0 killed the mayor after switching a plot to PvP and then left the town.
• 14 August 2024 – CatboyHoratio assisted in linking Rovaniemi to Sodankylä via metro.
• 15 August 2024 – A transport building was converted into I.M.S.H (Interchange Metro Station of HOPE).

Achievements

• Signed peace treaties securing Rovaniemi’s borders
• Oversaw construction of a central metro station
• Reintegrated Rovaniemi into Scandia

Inactivity Period

Following these developments, Mr_Immortal_X became inactive for several months, leading to stagnation in town administration.

Rovaniemi Joins Tavastia

On 14 February 2025, Rovaniemi joined the nation of Tavastia. Tavastian leader Salbru officially welcomed the town.

The Cyan Line

Mr_Immortal_X constructed the Cyan Line, a metro connection between Rovaniemi and Tavastia’s capital, New Helsinki, significantly improving transportation and trade.

The Sodankylä Conflict

Tensions escalated after Sodankylä and Kolari left Kola (Lapland) and Suomi to join Åland. Msyyn attempted to provoke conflict by blocking roads and threatening infrastructure.

Mr_Immortal_X intervened diplomatically, negotiating a peace treaty that restored infrastructure and prevented war, earning recognition as a regional peacemaker.

Renaming and New Suomi

Following further national leadership changes, Rovaniemi was transferred to Cor0ri, who officially renamed the town to 0pal.

After its renaming, 0pal joined the nation of New Suomi, marking the continuation of the town under a new identity and political alignment.
