The Sayerleft Court refers to the period of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Cascadia from August 21, 2023, when Sayerleft was sworn in as the sixth Chief Justice of Cascadia, to August 9, 2025. Sayerleft had served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court prior to appointment as Chief Justice, and succeeded Moggs in that position. Sayerleft's tenure on the court ended following retirement.
This era of the Court was marked by significant rulings on constitutional interpretation, property rights, governmental authority, and the relationship between national and municipal governance. The Court has also addressed issues arising from Cascadia’s unique digital governance structure, including disputes involving Discord administration and international treaties. The Court also consistently recommended legislative action to clarify ambiguous areas of law, instead of outwardly invalidating laws it finds unenforceable if the law was legal.
Relative to previous eras of the court, it has been notable for its extensive court opinions, and adherence to a philosophy of strict liberal constitutionalism, a doctrine put in place by Chief Justice Sayerleft, reflecting a careful balance between adhering to constitutional principles and addressing practical governance challenges unique to Cascadia’s digital nation-state framework. It is the longest-serving court in Cascadian history, consisting of the longest continuous trio of justices, with Chief Justice Sayerleft, former Chief Justice xBest, and former Chief Justice WrestlingWithGod, serving for nearly a year continuously. This court completed a liberal shift of the court, and notably restricted certain powers of the national government in favor of individual liberties; although expanded the role of the national government in terms of ensuring towns complied with ensuring constitutional rights.
