Rather than confront Florida, Quebec began extending its influence into the southern United States by funding Alabama, hoping to draw it into its sphere and expand its mega-nation's footprint in the region. Note that this is not the first nation it has funded within its mega-nation.

Instead of talking, Florida was met with insults and threats from Quebecois leadership, specifically AvocadoApache, who then also disbanded the NAP between the nations.

Recognizing the threat this posed to Florida's regional standing, Florida moved to counter the play directly. Bypassing Quebec entirely, Florida opened its own diplomatic channel with Alabama, working to build a relationship independent of Quebec's influence. The effort succeeded, leading to Florida and Alabama forming their own alliance.

The tension with Quebec proved to be a turning point for Florida's foreign policy.

In its aftermath, Florida moved to consolidate its regional alliances, joining the Western Accords with Cuba and further strengthening the ties first established under the Florida Cuba Friendship Pacts.
