Euphoria (Formally the Neo-Euphorian Empire), is a meganation found in the southwestern United States. It acts as a successor state to the Great Euphoria Empire, an empire found in Terra Nova, and it was also founded on the ashes of the pre-aurora empire of Zion. It is a highly theocratic empire, having the Cult of Dredd (Dreddism), as it's nationally enforced religion. It consists of the nations of Nevada and Arizona.

History

Background

Euphoria was a meganation found in Terra Nova, consisting of the nations of Columbia, Columbia River, Klondike, Victoria Island and October Island. When Terra Aurora was announced, the members of Euphoria planned to make Zion, a hypothetical meganation consisting of most of the southwest. However shortly after launch, Zion fell apart due to internal discontent and the member nations split apart.

Founding

There wasn't a definitive moment when Euphoria was founded, and there are 3 possible dates of founding. The first of which, and the earliest date, May 20th, 2022, was the founding date of the nation of Nevada, the core of Euphoria, and the current Imperial Province. The second, August 28th, 2022, was the founding date of Arizona, the first nation to be under Nevada (Thus the foundation of the meganation). And finally the third, September 16th, 2022, the 1 year anniversary of Columbian Independence (and Mexican Independence day), which the emperor, Dornan, considers the ceremonial date of founding.

Initial Decline

Much of the early period of Euphoria was stained with a heavy layer of mediocrity from inside of it. Starting in the latter half of September 2022, Dornan would begin to become inactive, a period which lasted all the way to January 2023. During this time most of the Imperial Province was completely dead. Notably however, the nation of Arizona, led by Xyyz0, slowly but surely began to gain power, and by the end of 2022 it was the most active nation in the southwest.

Signs of Life

Beginning in January 2023, the Imperial Province saw activity from Dornan's part, expanding the capital and playing casually just to chat, in contrast of the many weeks in a row Dornan didn't log on whatsoever. This short 2 month period would prove to be definitive, since it would go on to give Dornan the spark that was lost on Aurora.

Southwestern Crisis

Starting since August 2022, tensions between the nations of Euphoria and Cascadia have been rising constantly, and the crisis is still ongoing at some degree (March 2023). After the fall of Zion, former members AghastBlock and PrimeCyber teamed up to make the New Mexico Empire, an empire which had been constantly at odds with Nevada ever since the fall of Zion. After the fall of New Mexico, Aghast joined Cascadia and began expanding rapidly, angering the nation of Arizona.

New Mexico

PrimeCyber and Dornan had been at odds constantly ever since the fall of Zion, which in part fell due to their bickering. New Mexico's capital being named "Las Vegas" also didn't help alleviate tensions between the two. At some point during the conflict, Euphoric officials expressed interest in encroaching in New Mexican territory, so slowly but surely they began advancing into New Mexican territory after declaring the Treaty of Augustine, a treaty made to alleviate the situation, to be voided.

Cascadia, which was originally under New Mexico, left the nation on September 29th, 2022. The newly independent nation inherited most of the problems plaguing the southwest shortly after PrimeCyber's abdication, since New Mexico went on to join Cascadia as a province shortly thereafter. During this period of decline for New Mexico, Euphoria took the opportunity to expand to the now-barren areas, and most of it was annexed, under the supervision of Arizona.

Arizona

After the fall of New Mexico, AghastBlock's town, Phoenix, went on to join Cascadia. Phoenix was a fairly inactive town during most of 2022, however, at seemingly random intervals Aghast would claim 10 chunks at the time, worrying Euphoric officials, which claimed that Phoenix was legally a part of Xyyz0's Arizona. In response, Euphoria, under supervision of Arizona, would go on to expand southwards (where Phoenix is), worrying Aghast and prompting them to expand even more. Most of the conflict has boiled down to a race of who can claim the most on the shortest time.

As of March 2023, no real agreement has been reached between Euphoria, and Cascadia.

Back in the Saddle

Starting in March 2023, Euphoria saw a rise in activity from all mayor officials thanks in part to Dornan's return to EMC. Whilst taking a shower, Dornan would envision a new government structure for Euphoria, and the following day, a new Magna Carta was made (something which hadn't been done since November 2022). The government restructuring, Xyyz0's propaganda, and sudden changes of events, prompted the whole group to work together to further Euphoria into the future. During this period, Euphoria would also expand into Utah.

Society

Most of the culture of Euphoria is reminiscent of old Euphoria, since the members are virtually the same. However, degeneracy and toxicity, key aspects of old Euphoria, are now less widespread, now being taken over by Nationalism. As with old Euphoria though, as the Empire spreads, Dornan's ideology also spreads.

Cult of Dredd

Euphoria follows the Cult of Dredd, a religion which worships Canadian rapper "Freddie Dredd". The religion was founded back in old Euphoria but it was revived and reformed during the March rebound (2023). Notably, the state of Euphoria now considers the Head Prophet (the Pope of Dreddism), to be in legally the same level as the Emperor, however most of the time the Emperor and the Pope are one in the same.

One key difference is the addition of the Wellmen, a holy order and secret society made to protect and spread the Cult's ideals. Most of the Oligarchs in Euphoria, including the Emperor, are Wellmen, and most towns in Euphoria have Wells, the holy reunion site for all Wellmen.

Government

The government structure of Euphoria is based on the Magna Carta signed in March 2023. It is a revised, much simpler version of the previous government structure made in November 2021. Euphoric politics divides itself into 4 categories; The Oligarchy, The Populus, The Praetors, and The Church.

Oligarchy

It's the ruling executive body of Euphoria. It consists of the Caesar, the Emperor and ruler of Euphoria, and of the Legates, close advisors of the Caesar, tasked with maintaining control of their respective bodies of work. The Oligarchy as a whole is tasked with following trough with proposals done by the populus at their own discretion, and managing foreign affairs. They have the power to overrule any citizen requests but also have to power to make them, making them marginally more powerful than the average senator. Legates can only be appointed by the Caesar, and a new Caesar can only be appointed by the previous Caesar.

Populus

It consists of the Senators, town mayors, and of the Citizens, average residents of the Empire. Senators have the power to propose legislation, if the proposal gets a 51% approval rate, it is relayed to the Oligarchy, which get the final say on the matter. Citizens can become Senators by the Oligarch's approval, or by making a town. They also have the power to make citizen proposals, which have to be accepted by the Citizens, the Senators, and the Oligarchs.

Praetors

It makes up the judicial branch of Euphoria. Praetors can or can not be a part of either the Oligarchy, Populus or Church. It divides itself into two main rankings; the Summum Praetor, the supreme judge of Euphoria, appointed by the Caesar, tasked with following through with the laws of the land, however in day to day cases, it normally does not make an appearance. That appearance is made by the Praetors, an odd number of people appointed by the S. Praetor which are tasked with the day to day goings of the jury.

Church

The Church is a sector which is mostly separated from politics, it consists of the Pope, the supreme pontiff of the religion, who is almost always the Caesar, the Wellmen, a holy order made to protect the church's interests violently, and the Church (rank), which consists of Priests, Bishops, etc. The Pope holds all of the power in church affairs and, on a hierarchical standpoint, is on the same "power level" as the Caesar. The Pope is elected by the Wellmen by a majority vote every month. Although the Wellmen have the power to elect a new pope, they do not have the power to mandate the actual church. The only relevant rank of the church are the Bishops, priests who manage an array of churches across a certain area.
