NWT is a nation located in Western Canada, primarily northwest Canada. The capital of NWT is HayRiver. The nation was founded on October 2nd, 2024 after xStoicx the leader of the CCP (Cascadia Communist Party) and xHydre partnered to secede peacefully from Cascadia, and was dissolved in December 2024. NWT at its peak was ranked 38th.

NWT was recently revived April 28, 2025 when Aurora:xstoicx purchased back Hay River. He was previously located in ChillVille NorthwestAmerica in exile after when the nation was sold to the Alaskan regime.

NWT is now a monarchy, after the collapse of the previous government, xstoicx decided to declare himself as the sole monarch and head of state. In a recent statement, xstoicx aims to recreate the democratic nation he once invisioned - under the terms that the people provide enough investment and in the case the nation undergoes a surge in population.

NWT has a bustling fishing industry, nation shop, and is undergoing major infrastructure developments in the region with the neighbouring nation Wollaston.

NWT was previously known as Mackenzie, but after the previous nation N.W.T. was disbanded xstoicx changed the name back to NWT. NWT was previously reported (2.1) for having a similar name to N.W.T. and was forced to change their name to Mackenzie, but now they have reclaimed the nation name o7.

Geography

NWT is located in northwestern Canada, with some territories dipping into British Columbia. To the south are the nations Cascadia and BC, to the west is the nation of Alaska, and to the east is the nation of Wollaston. The nation features giant landscapes of mountains to the west and more warm, wet regions to the east.

HayRiver is located at the foot of two towering mountains which hover over the skyline; at the edge of the lake shore. HayRiver sits between three towns: Raccoon_City, DustyHollow, and Fort Resolution.

Although NWT claims to have a huge territory, the main concentration is around the HayRiver and the neighbouring lake area to avoid conflicts with other nations in the region.

Economy

NWT's economy followed communist and socialist economic principles, although participating in a pseudo-capitalist system as required by the shop system. They achieved this by having a robust welfare system, entitling every town to 100 gold after 2 weeks. Their economy relied on fishing and their national shop, although there was no major international stores located in Mackenzie. There are a large array of local shops around different towns, although there was not much of a market for embassy plots. A lot of monetary resources came from mining in the western portions of the country, and fishing in the east.

The government consisted of the representatives, elected every month, that then elect two of themselves to become the prime minister and the speaker of the house for that month. The prime minister then selects half the number of the representatives, minus one, to be their cabinet ministers for that month. The prime minister finally decides what role the CM will fulfill; Economy, defense, interior, and others are popular picks. The Speaker of the House assembled the representatives throughout the month to discuss a topic and come to a consensus on how the government should proceed on that topic. Ultimately however, as stated under Article 1 Section VII of the Mackenzie Constitution, all decisions made by the democratically elected government could be vetoed at any time by either of the founders, and founders had special executive powers to hold their own legislative assemblies without the presence of the Speaker of the House. This undermined the democratic system and arguably led to the political turbulence that toppled Mackenzie.

History

Pre-History

NWT was originally the territory under the jurisdiction of the Cascadian Communist Party (CCP), (traditionally the former far north of Cascadia), which advocated for Cascadian politics to take a more left-wing turn economically, increasing welfare and extending benefits for citizens and mayors.

Foundation

NWT seceded peacefully on good terms with Cascadia on October 2nd, 2024. For the next couple of weeks, NWT acted peacefully, signing multiple non-aggression pacts with other nations. These included Cascadia, Vermont, and Ontario. Relations were good, and NWT quickly gained new towns and citizens across northwestern Canada.

Cascadian Invasion

Tensions arose when the new player Aduwastaken created the town "Ythan_Adevir" on the road east of Castle John, the most populated city in NWT. The mayor first requested to join Mackenzie by messaging xHydre via Discord, then joined Cascadia and began denying ever contacting xHydre; furthermore after a week of communications between Adu and the NWT diplomats a ticket was created in the Cascadia Discord. Supreme Leader xStoicx made several attempts to claim national sovereignty in the region; but Drac, Milgorn, and other Cascadian bureaucrats denied the legitimacy of NWT whilst spending their remaining diplomatic time belittling leftist ideologies. The NWT government demanded the town be moved further south away from the road they'd built as xStoicx & xHydre had plans to create a national metropolis along this route, but as Cascadia declined this offer NWT felt they had no choice but to declare war on Cascadia in order to protect their territorial sovereignty in the Mackenzie Basin region. Since the war began Cascadia funded multiple settlements around NWT territorial claims and major cities including Error and Fort_Toto directly between Castle John and HayRiver. Prime Minister Ruffwoof was accused of foreign interference as they were involved with the Cascadia "shadow government" secretly interfering with NWT's political agenda from the start as reported by an anonymous source. Founder xStoicx had suspicions of Ruffwoof's intentions in the nation after learning of Ruffwoof's allegiance to his former nation Aurora:Cascadia. xStoicx proposed the NWT Legislative Assembly impeach him and thus he was immediately removed from office. Upon breaking further NWT Discord rules by spamming the advertisement's channel, Ruffwoof was removed and banned from the server.

Pechorsk_Colter Defection

The owner of Pechorsk_Colter, a user by the name of _haines, was removed from NWT for treason after the founders accused him of espionage. This resulted in the battle of Pechorsk_Colter. Many of Mackenzies brave warriors bravely fought againts the Cascadian regime, _haines instead of pursuing peace fought with the cascadian national guard.

2.1 Debacle

After user Limao_mao reported NWT's name as a duplicate of another smaller nation by the name of N.W.T, NWT was forced to be renamed and rebranded. They wanted their nation to be named Mackenzie for simplicity, however staff forced them to be named the Mackenzie Basin. Later, they renamed to simply Mackenzie.

Cessation of the Empire

While the NWT founders made several attempts to bring social democracy to their land, their constitution (which was approved and signed by multiple founders including RuffWoof and xHydre) allowed xStoicx ultimate executive powers as NWT's standing monarch, as he had accumulated the funds and purchased the nation himself initially. Mackenzie entered a political loop in its final months, electing Prime Ministers like RuffWoof and TheSnowic, both eventually being removed from their positions and outlawed by xStoicx with little public information released as to why. xStoicx suffered tremendous financial pressures during the Cascadian far-right christian nationalist extremist regime invaded, as HayRiver's southwest border became overclaimed by Ruffwoof's Beaver_Lake, ultimately leading to xStoicx unclaiming the western area of HayRiver all together (losing 1000g+ in chunks).

Aftermath

xstoicx ultimatly lost faith in creating his ideal democratic socialist nation on EMC's "NEET Oligarch server" ( - xstoicx), his ambitions of creating an equal nation for new players alike fell apart; he believed the Cascadia regime was a huge threat to the sovereignty of Mackenzie and was too influential in the continent to compete (due to its status with the OFN and other major regimes), especially with strong allies surrounding the Mackenzie River Basin. xStoicx sold the nation to Tuzzzie (the queen of Alaska & emc staffer) for 3500g, and sought asylum in the northwestern part of Alaska's coast, eventually founding the new nation of NorthwestAmerica. xstoicx wishes "that people will understand the immense pressures of creating a socialist nation, it isn't an easy task - especially with the greed and crime that continues to plague the server". xStoicx also notes that the major issue was trying to co lead with xHydre, xstoicx has stated he no longer needs a robin for his batman. He will lead NWT into greatness on his own.

Rebirth

Aurora:Xstoicx decided to return to HayRiver (his former town and the former capital of Mackenzie) on April 28, 2025, he purchased it from Meerkatq for 1000g. xstoicx moved his nation NorthwestAmerica to HayRiver, later renaming it to Aurora:Mackenzie. Aurora:xstoicx remains the owner and monarch, declaring himself the title " Tsar xStoicx of Mackenzie ". xStoicx made a public statement committing to work towards full democracy and the full recognition of the liberties of its subjects when "equal investments are made by the people". xStoicx runs a shop at /n spawn Mackenzie where he sells heads and other blocks at market price. xStoicx has granted Lady Hlsor as a Chancellor for the Nation, in recognition for her loyalty to xstoicx and her devotion towards the shared vision of democracy and socialism.
