The Treasuregate Scandal, or simply Treasuregate, was a political scandal in the Republic of Cascadia surrounding the 22nd President of Cascadia, Capitanfra, who committed major electoral fraud in the May 2025 Cascadia Presidential Election.  Though the fraud did not change the result of the Presidential elections, as Capitanfra still would've beaten his opponent Setrus by a smaller margin, it did change the results of the local elections in the Frontier district. It was the only large-scale case of electoral fraud in Cascadian history, and is still well known throughout Cascadia and the democratic world. Since then, laws have been passed or proposed in Cascadia such as X to prevent a case like Treasuregate from occurring again, to unknown results.

Background
Since a surge of activity that started at the tail end of Farosh's presidency, Cascadian politics had been in an era of division and polarization, primarily between a populist faction, led by figures such as Setrus, and Moxie, and a faction made up by mostly immigrants from OFN nations and certain establishment figures, led by figures such as GuyWithaLife, Xeocas and EmpressCorgo. These factions were relatively informal, and not completely united, though they often tended to vote for the same candidates The May election took place not long after the peak of this polarization, of which Capitanfra acted as a candidate alongside Ahea. Capitan himself had been recruiting for his town of Treasure Town in April and May, the first and only Cascadian town to reside on the Atlantic coast, which resides in the Frontier electoral district. The buildup to the election was fierce and polarized, with criticism toward the character of both Capitanfra and Setrus being thrown.

Election Fraud
Capitan, knowing that the elections between him and Setrus would be close, decided to take more desperate measures to ensure his win. He had been recruiting to his town of Treasure Town, which was the first Cascadian town on the east coast, and peaked at around 20~ residents before the election. He then devised a scheme to make Discord accounts and assorted Google accounts impersonating his own residents, and then have them vote for him in the election. He also would have two of his impersonated residents, Xembursal and d4rker run for the house. He was actually open about this scheme to some of his political allies in private, however he made up a story that he was simply making Discord or Google accounts for a few of his residents and actually giving them the accounts, with what turned out to be fraud being claimed to just be vote whipping. Somehow, they genuinely bought the story.

In total, 18 Discord and Google accounts were used to vote, two of which ran in the elections for the Frontier House district. Xembursal won in 3rd place in Frontier, just behind both Explosivefirewk and Capitanfra himself. D4rker won as a runner up due to Capitan's presidential win. As a result, the electoral fraud made WrestlingWithGod and BigTom_01 lose, who were also running as representatives in the Frontier. Capitanfra himself would win the election in a landslide because of the voting, with him gaining 17 points above Setrus, and the final preference vote being Capitanfra's 58% to Setrus's 41%. In great irony, Capitanfra would have won the elections regardless of if he used the alts or not, although the elections would've been very close.
