In order to maintain server performance, there are limits on how many blocks/entities of a certain type can exist in a chunk. If a block limit is exceeded, the server will send the player a message that the limit is full and prevent the placement of the block. If an entity limit is exceeded, the server will despawn an applicable entity to maintain the limit amount.
Block Limits
The following blocks are limited to only a certain amount being allowed within a chunk:
- Hopper: 256
- Piston: 256
- Sticky Piston: 256
Entity Limits
The following entities are limited to only a certain amount being allowed within a chunk:
Animals
Animals are limited to 30 existing per chunk. The following is a list of entities considered animals:
- Pig
- Cow
- Horse
- Rabbit
- Sheep
- Chicken
- Mooshroom
- Goat
Monsters
Monsters are limited to 30 existing per chunk. The following is a list of entities considered monsters:
- Zombie
- Skeleton
- Slime
- Creeper
- Stray
- Husk
- Drowned
- Witch
- Enderman
- Spider
