The period of peace gradually began to fade as the Roman Empire (SPQR) expanded beyond the Italian Peninsula, establishing colonies across North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula, including within territory claimed by Portugal.
The Sagres government had already anticipated that the land between Sagres and Altura could become the next target of foreign expansion. Discussions therefore took place behind closed doors, and a contingency plan was prepared in case a foreign town was established nearby.
In mid-August 2026, that scenario became reality. Shortly after the settlement was founded, vOkloi activated the plan. Within minutes, Sagres expanded by almost 30 chunks and requested the help of BrunoMK3, a loyal Portuguese citizen, to establish another town and close the remaining territorial gap. This led to the foundation of Portimão.
For the first time in the history of the Kingdom of Portugal, the country controlled an entire region that closely resembled its real-world borders. With the long-term ambition of bringing the three provinces closer together, Sagres was officially renamed Algarve and adopted a redesigned version of its traditional flag.
