Its south end connects to the [[Nostra:World Border line|World Border line]], while its north end connects to the [[Nostra:North–South Main line|North–South Main line]], which eventually reaches Napier and the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Island North Island].

The ice road was built by [[iUpgrade]] and [[wediaklup]]. Construction began in late June and the line was opened on 16th of August 2026. The floor height of the tunnel is an impressive 5 blocks (6 counting the ice layer), and the majority of the road has illumination. While it was initially built as 2 blocks wide, there have been plans to widen the road.

An auxiliary route to [[Nostra:Christchurch|Christchurch]] has been planned but is yet to be built. Signage in form of map art is planned by [[Nostra:New Zealand Ministry of Infrastructure|New Zealand Ministry of Infrastructure]] and are in the design phase as of 23rd of August, 2026. <p> <p>
