On December 6, it was announced that plans have changed and the ECIR will not go to Rennes or Montréal and be rebranded as MECA Rail on January 1, 2022. The rebrand was due to the fact that ii_adzasc wanted to extend long distance but wanted to extend it only to certain areas. This new plan will take many months to construct and the local lines will be constructed first (B line - Quebec to Newfoundland and Newfoundland to Saint John and Minetopia) (B line - Old Hopedale to Halifax). There will be 3 express lines. One from Quebec to Keewatin, one from Halifax to Greensboro via Lyria, Bermuda and Fort Sumter and one from Newfoundland to Morocco and Angola.
