Leeuwarden is a town in the Northern Netherlands. The Northern Netherlands is the a rural area . Although it is small the three provinces of Groningen, Friesland (Fryslân) and Drenthe are provinces in the area. Its establishment in August of 2020 marked a new era for German towns in the Netherlands.
