History
Foundation
Shortly after the foundation of Svalbard, in late November of 2019, the Kalmar Union pushed for strong diplomatic and economic ties with the new nation. An ice line was completed connecting Nya Asgard and Longyearbyen, which served as the foundation for the modern NLA.
Formalization
The Northern Lights Alliance as it is known today was founded in late December of 2019. Due to the expanding Kingdom of Norway, the Kalmar Union founded the Greater Kalmar Union on the 30th of that month, and allowed the former prime minister, Riftal to found Finland as a vassal state. Shortly after this, Godthab was admitted to the NLA, and, like Svalbard, has gained infrastructure connecting it to the rest of the region.
Growth
The NLA has gained two new member states in 2020, Solør and Finnmark, both of whom are young Norwegian minor states. The alliance has continued to drift closer together, and could easily expand to diplomatically unify Scandinavia.
