Prayer flags are often strung out across the landscape. The monks believe that the prayers will be blown by the wind to spread good will and compassion to all sentient beings. They continually mount new flags to renew their hopes for the world, the act symbolizing a welcoming of life's changes, and an acknowledgement that all beings are part of a greater ongoing cycle.
