The Serene Republic of Waddenzee (Waddenish: Zekrel Waddenzee Repoeblich) is a new micro-town, located on the tip of Noord-Holland (Den Helder), Texel, and the Waddell sea. Neighboring towns include Frisia, Amsterdam, Atlantis and Belgium.
History
After finally having enough gold, the first Serene Doge of Waddenzee, Pastelant, swam up to the small unclaimed chunks and founded the town and united all the unnamed clans living there.
Politics and Government
The town strives to be independent from the preying eyes of Britain, Austria and Spain. It has very little land and has a lot of development underground, and makes income through trading small goods and providing raw materials. The economy remains small.
The town is a Republic, ruled over by a duke- who is elected but rules for life as long as there isn't a vote of no confidence. The subdivisions are ruled over by similarly elected regional governors.
Culture
There is a unique Waddenzee culture, and there is a language- Waddenish, which is a sort of pidgin creole formed from Dutch, Frisian, English and German. Hochdeutsch is also an official language, but it is seldom used. There is a strong poetic and musical culture, and there is a regional anthem -unlike most other towns- "Boerdiez twieten, tat suid ond sund!" set to the tune of "Noord-Holland Volkslied".
