Santopoli is a city in the Saharan region of North Africa. The city is part of the Italian nation, Genoa. It is the 23rd city to join the Republic of Genoa, and being within vicinity of a fellow North African town, Histria, in the Tunisian region. The city is currently ruled by it's founder, il Duce Idyllicism.

History

In July 2023, amidst tension between the nations of Genoa and Sahara, a Serbian visionary named Idyllicism, influenced by his idyllic beliefs and longing for a tranquil paradise, embarked on a daring expedition to establish a new community in the North African area. Armed with a profound appreciation for nature and a desire to create a utopian haven, Idyllicism gathered like-minded members and set sail for the North African coast.

They named their settlement "Santopoli," derived from the Italian word "santo" (meaning holy) and the Greek word "poli" (signifying city), symbolizing their aspiration for a harmonious and sacred city. With unwavering determination, the settlers worked diligently, overcoming numerous challenges posed by the arid terrain, to create a picturesque village enveloped by lush gardens and adorned with captivating architecture comprising a blend of Italian and Greek styles.

The Creation of Santopoli

The Seven Days

Legend had it that Idyllicism possessed an unwavering connection with the divine, a bond that grew stronger with each passing day. Seeking guidance and blessings for his people, Idyllicism embarked on a spiritual journey that lasted seven days and seven nights, seeking solace atop the dunes. With unwavering devotion and humility, he prostrated himself before the heavens, praying fervently to God for the prosperity and protection of his people. In the stillness of the desert night, his pleas reached the ears of the celestial realms, and on each passing day, divine gifts of golden riches cascaded down from the skies above. Empowered by the golden abundance, Idyllicism used the funds to found the newfound city of Santopoli on the seventh day, a haven of life and abundance amidst the unforgiving sands.

Joining the Republic of Genoa

First Contact with the Italians

The beginning of communications with the Italians began on July 25th, the same day as the creation of Santopoli. After diplomacy between Idyllicism of Santopoli and Bearlilegal of Histria, whom respresented the Republic of Genoa, an agreement was reached for the city's accession to Genoa.

The Frontier City of the Sahara

After Santopoli had joined Genoa, it became the furthest city from the capital of Genoa. The distance combined with the geopolitical position in the Sahara Desert made the city of Santopoli the heart of the frontier. Due to being in a popular PvP zone, having tense relations with the local nation of Sahara, and the hostile environment that comes with being in a desert, Santopoli became a city for the bold.
