=== Death and Funeral of Pope Emeritus Pius XIII ===
On 11 February 2026 at 12:04 PM, Vatican News reported that Pope Emeritus Pius XIII had died, stating that he had “returned to the House of the Father.” His death was described as marking the end of a significant period in the history of the EarthMC Catholic Church. He had been a member of the Church for nearly six years and had served as Pope from July 2023 until his resignation in September 2024.
According to the report, Pius XIII had been ordained a priest in 2020, later consecrated a bishop, and appointed Archbishop of France. He subsequently held the offices of Cardinal Dean of the Sacred College of Cardinals and Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine before his election to the papacy. During his pontificate, he promulgated the first official Missal of the EMC Church and issued the encyclicals Unitas Christianorum and Virtutes Vitae Christianae. His tenure also included the reconstruction of the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran and the construction of the Basilica of St. Peter on Terra Aurora. In September 2024, he resigned the papacy and retired to the Monastery of San Gregorio al Celio in Rome.
On 12 February 2026, Vatican News further reported that at 8:30 PM Rome time, the body of Pope Emeritus Pius XIII would be transferred from the chapel of the Monastery of San Gregorio al Celio to the Basilica of St. Peter in a solemn and private ceremony. The ceremony was to be presided over by Cardinal Luke, Cardinal Vicar of Rome, and attended by a limited number of individuals, including Pope John Paul III. The Basilica of St. Peter was to remain closed to the public during the ceremony and reopen afterward to allow the faithful to pay their respects.
=== Bull of Indiction of the Fourth Council of Rome ===
On 16 February 2026, in the second year of his pontificate, Pope John Paul III issued the Bull of Indiction of the Fourth Sacred, Ecumenical and General Council of Rome on EarthMC.
The document formally convoked a sacred, ecumenical, and general council to be opened on 22 February 2026 in Rome. It stated that the council was to be conducted for the glory of God and the welfare of the Christian community, and that it would deliberate on matters concerning the Church.
Attendance was required of patriarchs, archbishops, bishops, and abbots, unless prevented by a legitimate impediment, in which case justification was to be provided. Priests and monsignors permitted to observe the council were instructed to maintain obedience and decorum. Representatives of Eastern Churches were to be allowed to present their views.
The bull concluded with a formal prohibition against violating its provisions and invoked the authority of God and the apostles Peter and Paul.
