The Organization of Free Nations was an alliance consisting almost entirely of democratic nations that existed for just over two years during Terra Aurora. It was founded between Cascadia, the North Sea Republic, Belarus and the Midwestern Union on March 19, 2023. It would grow exponentially, especially throughout the year 2024, eventually becoming the largest alliance in Terra Aurora history at it's height. The OFN would show a great level of cooperation between nations, with the most apparent example being the Great American War, which was won so hard that Texas effectively capitulated, with a new government rising that joined the OFN itself for a time later on. After the Great American War, the alliance cemented it's power over the world, primarily in North America and Oceania. Eventually, however, a combination of deep internal strife, lessening interest, inactivity and a discord nuking in the beginning and spring of 2025 eventually collapsed the alliance, with it being officially disbanded on July 25, 2025.

The OFN left a legacy of having some of the greatest levels of cooperation between nations that the server had ever seen. The democratic ideas of the alliance caused a number of nations to instate democratic reforms in order to join the alliance. At the same time though, as the alliance grew, so did internal strife, especially throughout late 2024, which ended up being one of the primary factors behind it's downfall. At the same time, the high levels of cooperation also introduced high levels of immigration between it's member nations, with notable players who immigrated through the OFN being Dracnoian, Farosh, Kahnstantia, and many more.

History

Founding and Early History

Throughout 2022 and early 2023, the nation of Cascadia would make some new friends, most notably the nations of the North Sea Republic, who they had a party chat with, Belarus, and the Midwestern Union, who was relatively close to them and were quite friendly. Though differences in organization and culture existed between these three nations, one attribute served as a common denominator: democracy. As a result, spearheaded by players such as EstiQT and Milgorn123, the OFN was founded on March 19, 2023. The naming and branding came from Esti herself, who named it after an alliance of the same name in a mod for the World War II strategy game, Hearts of Iron IV, known as The New Order. The alliance would grow slowly but surely in the coming months, taking in members such as the Polar Republic and Laurentia. The North Sea Republic would eventually leave the alliance however, and the Midwestern Union would go inactive not long after the OFN's founding.

Havaiki, Exponential Growth

In February 2025, a group from outside EarthMC, who had connections with the Cascadian Frontiersmen, joined the server and founded the nation of Havaiki. Havaiki and Cascadia quickly gained close relations, and Havaiki would join the OFN on X X, 2024. This proved to be one of the best decisions the OFN made, as Havaikan leaders quickly got involved and massively improved the alliance, with Dracnoian at the forefront.

Administration

Goals

The OFN's goals as stated in the Blue Articles include but are not limited to:

• Secure the tenants of democracy and liberty
• Maintain the freedoms of the player worldwide
• Free the oppressed from the oppressors
• Defend the unity of our nations from foreign or domestic threats

Core Ideals

Some of the core ideals of the OFN are: Liberty, Freedom, Democracy, and Unity, and Collaboration The OFN believes that protecting these ideas is vital and will take steps to do so.

Government

Council Of Nations

The OFN consists of a body known as "The Council of Nations" which includes of delegates from the member states. Any delegate within the council are able to propose legislation changes and admission votes for the alliance. Member states or given 1 vote on behalf of their government.

Secretary General

Every 2 months the council of nations elects a Secretary General to serve as the spokesman, chief public-servant and cheap diplomatic of the alliance. In order for a candidate. to appear on the ballot they must get a nomination from a delegate and a second from another.

Assistant Secretary General

The Secretary General may nominate Assistant Secretary Generals to assist them with their duties. This nomination must then be approved by the Council of Nations

The OFN also has four observer state which are the Republic of Vermont, Imperial Russia, the Republic of Dixie, and the Republic of Yucatan. Observer states gain the ability to participate in discussions but cannot vote on legislation. The OFN also has one candidate state which Athabasca. Candidate states are not members or observers but have a specialized channel open to discuss with the OFN.
