The Regular Force is in charge of keeping Acadians safe from hunters or other threats, essentially being your standard military. The ASOF is in charge of managing town holders, overclaiming enemy towns, and maintaining town bridges, basically the towny-related aspects of defense. Finally, the Division of Intelligence is in charge of intelligence-gathering, counterintelligence, and other operations necessary for the preservation of national security.

As outlined in chapter II, article 14 of the constitution of Acadia, "Acadia shall repudiate war as an instrument of aggression against the freedom of other peoples and as a means for the settlement of international or domestic disputes. Acadia agrees, on conditions of equality with other states, to the limitations of sovereignty that may be necessary to an order ensuring peace and justice among nations".
chapter II article 14 of constitution
<br>
It is official government policy that Acadia is to remain neutral in any conflicts or wars not involving itself, and that it should refrain from entering into long term defensive commitments with other nations.
One notable exception is New York, with whom Acadia is very close, as both nations are signatories of the ''[https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SkNK6ZaROR2oXVPbcWJvema1G6qzJpWBh7A2gcU64xM/edit?usp=sharing Vista Accords]'', which tie the two nations together very closely. More specifically, it includes the following measures:
- A non-agression pact
- An official border, as set out by the Memphis Accords (New York state, New England west of the Connecticut, and a small section of Ontario including Toronto belongs to New York, and most of Maine, northern Vermont, Quebec, and ontario northeast of toronto belongs to Acadia)
- Measures for economic cooperation (such as price coordination, preferential partnerships, joint advertising, and a customs union)
- Measures for cultural cooperation (such as shared discord access, joint events, joint national parks, a shared "Vistarian" identity, and a shared McMMO party chat)
- Measures for infrastructure cooperation (such as joint ice rails and roads)
- Foreign policy coordination (such as a joint sanctions regime, joint embargo regime, and joint outlaw regime)
- Mutual defense and aid
- Intelligence sharing

The Memphis Accords are a border treaty ratified by 7 North American countries, including the Republic of Acadia, Commonwealth of America, Florida, Estados Unidos Mexicanos (United Mexican States), State of New York, Republic of Texas, & The United States Empire. It lays out core territories, in which no other signatory can make towns in, and shared zones, in which multiple signatories are free to make towns in.
