The December 2025 election saw a record breaking number of Public Advocate candidacies, a large majority of which being joke campaigns. As a result, every candidate for public advocate was endorsed numerous times. Near the end of campaigning season, joke candidates were also encouraged to mass withdraw as another layer to the joke. A total of 36 candidates filed for candidacy in this election. <br> The following withdrew, leaving 22 in the race:
