Bärstadt (German: ['bɛːaˌʃtat], literal translation: bear city) is the seventh borough of Mossau, formed on 28 August 2021. It contains Westhafen harbour.
Overview
Bärstadt represents Mossau's waterfront and therefore is the northernmost borough of the town, only bordering Gutow to the South, however, Bärstadt also borders New Snork to the west making it one of the only two Mossau-districts, which have an international border, the other one being Sturmwies bordering Rigy. Bärstadt includes the inner town localities of Bärstadt, Visselhöwede and Hansenviertel. The district contains Binghaer Straße, a major road which runs across the whole district.
Architecture
Bärstadt is a half-residential–half-industrial district, with the residential buildings being fairly tall apartment buildings made of either wood or polished diorite. Industrial Buildings are largely built out of wood and stone or bricks, resembling 20th Century Factories. Furthermore, the district is home to Westhafen, Mossau's only seaport.
Traffic
Located inside the Bärstadt-locality there is Mossau's "Hermann Paschulke" Airport which is scheduled to open in late 2021. Running below ground, there is the major North-South Iceway calling at Flughafen and Westhafen within Bärstadt.
