The Siege of the Vatican was part of the Austrian Invasions of Europe lead by 73beetle. 73beetle had threatened to invade Jerusalem, and the Pope responded saying not to do so. In response Austria invaded the Papal State. The Pope recruited militia from the then new town of Tortugas. The battle was a stalemate mostly, where Papal forces tried caging Austrians within the walls of the vatican and killing them. After a long battle, Austrian forces withdrew to Vienna. It was considered a victory for the Papal forces as they suffered fewer casualties and prevented the demise of the Pope. Unfortunately for the Papacy Tortugas sacked the Vatican's coffers.
