The nation and meganation of Baltic is located in the Baltic Sea region and Scandinavian region, Europe. Firstly acquired and renamed to Baltic, the nation evolved into a meganation of the same name soon after. The current memberstates of the meganation are: Baltic, Finnmark, Scandinavia, Kievan_Rus, Vironia, Lapland, & Norrland. The nation was acquired and renamed on March 22th, 2024, while the meganation was formed on April 6th of 2024, when the nations of Paradise (located in North America) and Lithuania_Duchy (at the time - GDL) joined.

History

Pre-Founding

Two events contributed for the idea of Baltic to be born. Firstly, the selling of (old) Estonia by the leader TRIDENTY and the nation of Livonian Order falling into inactivity. Ethnically Estonian mayors for a long time were uncontented with TRIDENTY’s rule. But the last straw was selling of the nation and its capital - the largest town - to ethnic Russians who belonged to the nation of Austria-Hungary. The town of Louna, at the time under rule of REK3k, joined Livonian Order, while the neighbouring town of Sakala was bought by Livonian Order, specifically by the player named THE_GREAT_LATVIA (now - 9ban86), and handed to Andris237 (now - UberLatvans). Soon after already fallen from its previous glory Livonian Order went in even bigger inactivity: THE_GREAT_LATVIA quit EMC for some time and the leaders stopped responding to any dms and logged onto the server only to not let the capital and nation fall. Some time before the very day of foundation REK3k - the at the time ruler of Louna - created an inter town organisation in Baltic Sea region. Many towns, big and small, joined it.First and foremost it was an economic organisation, a platform to help coordinate infrastructure projects in the region. It could be compared to the in real life Hanseatic League. That is when the seed of an idea of a united Baltic nation was born, even if it was still far from realisation.

Government

The government of Baltic consists of three branches: the Executive, the Legislative, and the Judiciary.

Executive

The Executive branch contains the Cabinet, whose purpose is to deal with foreign and internal matters - and running the country, and the Presidency, whose main job is just to hold the nation in-game, and give advice to the Cabinet.

Legislative

The Legislative branch is made up of the Parliament, a collection of MPs from different parties (proportional representation of the votes each party got in elections), whose job is to propose and vote on bills (laws) & constitutional amendments.

Judiciary

The Judiciary consists of the Supreme Court of Baltic, an entity whose purpose is to interpret the law and enforce it as it sees fit. The Supreme Court is made up of 3 head judges, each judge is elected like so: The President gives forth a candidate, and the PM has to approve of said candidate.Then 70(rounded down)% of parliament has to approve of said candidate. Head Judges do not have a term limit, but can be replaced if they do not log on to emc for 42 days, or if they get another "main seat of power" like PM or Chairman of the Military, or if 85% of parliament approves and both the PM and President agree on the Judges removal.

Military

The military of Baltic consists of 2 main parts: the civilian controlled volunteer forces (AKA the armed forces), and the Military government.

The Volunteer Army

In Baltic, any citizen can volunteer to join the armed forces, however conscription can be used by the government if deemed necessary. However, often times, you will find that the Military is not used at all, and in practice does not exist. This is because Baltic, culturally speaking, is a nation not of PVPers, but of builders and roleplayers. Due to this, even when Baltic finds itself in a war (which is often), the Military is not used, and often while enemy troops attempt to hunt Baltic citizens, they just stay in claims and dont fight back, opting to ignore foreigners than to fight them. Because of this unique perspective on PVP, Baltic fights wars in a different style, often through planting towns and overclaiming.

The Military Government

In accordance with the constitution of Baltic, if the Government deems a situation to be crisis-worthy, it can activate a temporary Military Government, wherein the President shall pick a Chairman to lead it, and the Chairman can choose his war cabinet. The military government can be created when the President feels it is necessary, and can be disbanded when the President feels it is no longer needed. However, if it is created during wartime, and peace is signed, the military government is required to disband.
