The town of Oro was founded by steibu on the 8th of February 2025 and currently has a population of 52 people and spans an area of 103 chunks. The current mayor of Oro is Hmanth, a former resident of New Ireland.

A Brief History

When it was first found in February 2025, Oro belonged to the nation of Melanesia and was called Mitochan. Some Melanesian buildings - which still stand today in Oro - were constructed during this time. Later in April, the mayor decided he no longer wanted the town, so he was either going to delete it or give it away. The leader of Melanesia, which the town belonged to, asked their neighbor and ally (Papua New Guinea) if they wanted the town, who agreed to take it on the 21st of April 2025. The town was immediately renamed to Oro in order to reflect the real life region and Papuan province of Oro.

Shortly afterwards, Hmanth, a member of the Papua New Guinea nation who had been inactive for some time, returned to EarthMC. He and his friend took the town and numerous buildings were constructed. Oro quickly became a very populous town in the region, even surpassing the nation's capital New Ireland.
