Outpost 31, also known as East New Rothera, is a remote and isolated settlement nestled deep within the harsh expanse of East Antarctica, It is the current capital of Amery.

History

Early History

The first settlers, consisting of travellers with English, Irish and South African heritage departed from Sri Lanka and made landfall in Antarctica on April 15th. Their journey was marked by raids on long-abandoned outposts scattered across the Southern Arctic Ocean, where they scavenged vital supplies. After landing in an unnamed abandoned town, the settlers originally created an underground base (Camp Iasc) to solidify their position in the continent, and moved further south a few days later. This would mark the beginning of the Trans-Antarctic Trade Federation.

Construction of the first permanent structure, Fort Rothera, was completed on April 18th. It was soon followed by the establishment of a bank, an embassy, and a prison.

The town initiated the Antarctic reforestation initiative, a declaration that has aimed to introduce wide scale forests into the otherwise barren region.

The Dissolution of Kamylodar

On the 27th of April, the town's mayor and founder Thouhoodied made the executive decision to join the nearest nation, Amery, in order to gain closer ties to the Antarctic Union. This decision was cut short, however, as on the 24th of May, Kamylodar (capital of Amery) was dissolved by the mayor, and the ownership of the nation was transferred to Thouhoodied, by extension making Outpost 31 the capital of Amery. On the 31st of May, ‘The Ameryian History Museum’ was established in order to preserve artifacts recovered in the wake of the city’s dissolution, and showcase artifacts critical to the history of Outpost 31 as a town. Artifacts include the ‘Mighty Melon’ recovered from the Kamylodar shop, the Antarctic Republic flag, and multiple art pieces recovered by the founders of Outpost 31 during their voyage to Antarctica. On June 1st, 2025, the unused prison was integrated within the Museum.
