Erzincan:

The town of Erzincan is, in real life, a beautiful city located in the western part of Türkiye’s Eastern Anatolia Region. In the Ehartmc server, it was founded by dv6724 on May 2, 2026. The exact founding date of Erzincan is unknown. In Assyrian sources, the oldest known name of the region is Zuhma (Suhma). It is believed that the name Erzincan derives from Eriza. The name Eriza was used by the Seljuks as Erzincan, and later evolved into its modern form. According to another tradition, the name comes from Aziriz. It is said that the Seljuks greatly favored this name and used to recite a rhyme: “If mercy falls, Aziriz lives; if it does not fall, Aziriz burns.” Over time, the name Aziriz is said to have transformed into Erzincan.

Following the collapse of the Urartians around 600 BC as a result of the Median invasion of Anatolia, the region and its surroundings came under the rule of the Medes (612 BC) and later the Persians (550 BC). With the conquest of the Persian Empire by Alexander the Great, Anatolia came under Macedonian rule. Erzincan, which frequently witnessed wars between Persia and the Byzantine Empire, came fully under Muslim rule during the caliphate of Uthman ibn Affan around 655 AD. After the Battle of Manzikert in 1071 and the beginning of Turkish control in Anatolia, Mengücek Ahmet Gazi established his authority over the region. Following the defeat of the Seljuks by the Mongols in the Battle of Köse Dağ, the area came under Ilkhanid rule. The region was later ruled by the Kara Koyunlu in 1419 and the Ak Koyunlu in 1455. Finally, Erzincan, which had served as a military headquarters on August 11, 1514, was returned to Ottoman rule after the Battle of Chaldiran fought on August 23, 1514 between Selim I and the Safavids.
