The North–South Main line is the longest iceway in New Zealand with a length of 5593 meters. While generally allowing both boats and minecarts, NZ City to Christchurch is minecart only and Christchurch to Zealandia Junction is boat only. Thus boats going to NZ City need to use Highway 1 instead.
