In late August of 2019, the Republic of Cascadia underwent a schism of it's internal government, with a breakaway sect looking to establish Cascadia as an empire. This breakaway sect has led to an[[Cascadian Civil Crisis| internal crisis]] with two factions of supporters supporting both the establishment of a Cascadian Empire and the continued existence of the Republic of Cascadia.

Of course, it was all just a joke and the leaders of both factions met and agreed to do this. It was planned to bring Cascadia back into relevancy, as more people ended up getting on due to the "crisis".
