Columbia and Haida Gwaii is a Cascadian province located in the coastal regions of British Columbia. It was formed on 4 April 2021 through the merger of the Cascadian provinces of Columbia and Haida.
History
Columbia & Haida Gwaii came into existence on 4 April 2021 through the voluntary merger of the governments of the provinces of Columbia and Haida, both of which were separate provinces of Cascadia previously. Columbia and Haida had previously had a turbulent relationship, with Columbia's rapid development and expansion frequently making the government of Haida under OreoToast and later Oilerator uncomfortable. A number of border agreements were made but it was clear to the Haidan government that Columbia would continue to grow at all costs. After a number of months of low activity, 32Oreo returned to Haida as Governor and immediately declared his intention to seek a merger with Columbia. The Columbian government under Dornan_ was happy to oblige and the merger was recognized within a few days of the initial declaration by 32Oreo.
Politics
Columbia & Haida Gwaii's government is currently undergoing a restructuring to reflect the new political reality following the merger. The current system of governance consists of a Cascadian-style 'senate' and a Governor. The de jure Governor of Columbia & Haida Gwaii is currently Dornan_, but in practice, there are two de facto Governors of Columbia & Haida Gwaii. This system exists mostly to allow each Governor to effectively administer their own regions while the details of the provincial merger are determined.
