The FalklandRepublic is a nationless state/town located on the Falklands (South Atlantic). As of writing, it runs as if it were a nation but is technically still a town. It will have its own parliament, army, and everything a nation has.
The FalklandRepublic was founded by Classic player, Joel02, on the 22nd of June, 2020. After going inactive for a substantial period of time due to exams, Joel02 returned to Earthmc and after having created a few towns, he finally settled on the Falkland Islands. This is not his first Falklands town, however; back when Toycat invaded EarthMC around April 2019, Joel02 created the town West-Falklands which became rather successful and peaked at 23 players. Later on, he handed over the town to someone else so he could focus on exams. The town is still alive but remains abandoned.
Buildings/structures
- Massive clock tower (tallest structure).
- The personal residence of Joel02.
- Mainly lots of plots for residents to build on.
- Bridge towards the East Falkland island
- Border walls with places to use a bow from.
- Several small farms dotted around
- KFC
- Starbucks
- Joel's Shop
- Spawn area + information centre
A lot has been destroyed and will be rebuilt, do not come to the Falklands yet due to mass renovations.
Government
Direct democracy in which all citizens will be freely allowed to convene at the Falklands parliament to discuss and debate local issues with the government. The government will be picked by the mayor, however, there will be maximum transparency and a way to remove any government member from office.
A constitution will be written shortly.
Timeline
June 22nd
- Joel02 creates 'Free Falklands'. The 'free' putting an emphasis on freedom. (original name)
June 23rd
- Free Falklands joins Patagonia, a peaceful nation in South America. Joel02 finishes the massive clock tower that will be the centre of the future city and the main landmark of the whole Falklands.
June 24th
- Operation Repair is completed, the nearby areas were cleaned up and Mount Maria + Adam terraformed to look natural again. Lots of remains were destroyed and land cleared for plots. Additionally, a small spruce forest was added between the mountains.
June 25th
- The town is renamed to 'Falkland-Islands' after confusion as to whether the name 'Free-Falklands' sounds pro or anti-Argentinian. The motto 'Free Falklands' remains, however.
June 26th
- Official connections between the two other towns are complete but stay closed off. Falklands adopts the British joint forces military flag flown in the Falklands as its main flag. Its easier to represent in-game and makes clear the Falklands self govern themselves. Link to flag
June 27th
- Joel02 finishes claiming chunks for the town and begins saving up for a nation. Falkland-Islands leaves the Kingdom of Patagonia without notice and declared independence.
June 28th
- At 00:31 BST, Svalbard and the Falkland Islands agree to become strong future allies for when the Falklands becomes a nation officially in-game, a future special relationship between the nations. Svalbard begins fundraising to make the Falklands a reality.
- Later on the same day, the Falklands obtained its first sheep! A historic moment for the Falklands, especially as it's well known for its sheep in real life. This is after 2 long journeys from BatonRouge in Louisiana, all the way to the Falkland Islands.
- Renamed from Falkland-Islands to FalklandRepublic and Joel02 decides to, for the time being at least, remain as a nationless state, instead of creating a nation.
June 29th
- A new wall is built to the south fully closing of the town, only leaving it exposed to the sea and the mountain. This is apart of a defense plan to ward off or fight against Argentine invaders in the future.
