All Sudanese towns' flags are vertical tricolours. In addition to this, the fly end of the flag is dyed brown as to represent the people of the East African coast. The middle band is also dyed white as to represent the White Nile River which flows through the center of the nation. The colouring of the hoist end of the flag varies from town to town however, within the flag of El Obeid and the flag of Sudan as a whole, the black band represents the fertility of the Nile River and the land that sits by it.[[Category:Nations]]
