-Spain and Portugal were both in a defensive alliance called the Iberian Pact to protect Iberia from future enemy threats. The friendship between the 2 countries grew to the point where Portugal decided to support Spain and the Triumvirate during the Second Great War.
-Everything seemed fine until a Portuguese speaking mayor decided to make a town in the area of Galicia. At first, he joined Spain, but on the 3rd of November, he decided to leave and join Portugal. Spain was not okay with this as Portugal was now holding some lands in Galicia, breaking their border treaty.
-Portugal refused to remove the town, so 1 day later Spain planted a town in the middle of Portugal where Spain and Portugal had a short battle as well. 2 days later Spain tried sending a final ultimatum demanding to return their old original borders before this conflict or they would declare war. Portugal put out a voting poll to its citizens and most of them voted to stay strong and not give up. Spain saw this and decided to officially declare war on Portugal on November 6th, 2019.
