Association football

Association Football, commonly shortened to soccer or simply football. is a popular competitive field sport played on EarthMC. While based on the real-world sport of the same name, the EarthMC variant is characterized by its 'player-ball' mechanic, where a designated volunteer acts as the physical ball and is punched or knocked across the pitch by the competing athletes.

The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposing team by moving the player-ball beyond the goal line into a rectangular-framed goal defended by the opponent. It is one of the most popular professional sports on EarthMC. Unlike other field sports such as Gridiron football or Rosey, which are played in "attempts" or "downs" that stop and start, soccer is continuous, and possession changes instantly the moment one player steals the ball from another.

History
