Lanfang (Chinese: 兰芳国; Malay: Negara Lanfang; Vietnamese: Nước Lan Phương), commonly known simply as Lanfang（兰芳）, is a multi-ethnic constitutional monarchy in Southeast Asia. Its territory spans parts of Borneo, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Indochina.
As of September 2026, Lanfang consists of 2,648 active territorial blocks. Its administrative divisions include the Central Government (West Borneo), Sarawak, Sabah, Johor, Malaysia, Sumatra, Indochina, and Central Vietnam. The country operates under a confederal system in which authority is shared between the central government and the constituent states.
The country's principal territories are located in Borneo and the Malay Peninsula, with additional territories in Sumatra and Indochina. Its geographically dispersed territory has resulted in a diverse ethnic, linguistic, and cultural composition.
Lanfang is a constitutional democracy with a participatory senatorial system. Its capital, Khuntien, has the largest capital metropolitan sphere of influence in Southeast Asia. The current monarch is Cheunlau.
History
Background
Lanfang traces its origins to the state of Dian (滇), which existed in the southwestern region during the Aurora period. Shortly after the announcement of the new world, the former Dian community divided into two principal factions based largely on personal affiliations: the Dali faction and the Nanyang faction.
The Nanyang faction was composed primarily of members from the former cities of Honghe, Pu'er, Southwest Associated University, and other settlements of Dian. The Dali faction was centered on former residents of Dali and subsequently became the principal group associated with the present-day PRC.
Establishment and early period (April 5, 2025 – May 2, 2026)
On April 5, 2025, Fix announced that the server would begin a new world on May 1, 2026. The Lanfang group, led initially by CoconutJuiceOwO, subsequently began preparations for the establishment of a new state.
The group's original plan was to establish Singapore as its capital. This plan was abandoned after another group established a settlement there first. On April 17, CoconutJuiceOwO founded the city of Khuntien near the mouth of the Kapuas River in West Borneo. After accumulating a substantial quantity of gold through extensive mining, the group formally established Lanfang on April 23, 2026.
Cheun_lau, a friend of CoconutJuiceOwO, subsequently purchased premium access, allowing them to enter the new world before its official opening. Cheun_lau had previously agreed to assist with the development of Guangzhou and joined Lanfang around April 25. The server officially opened on May 1.
Following Cheun_lau's admission to Lanfang, CoconutJuiceOwO transferred leadership of the country to Cheun_lau, who consequently became its de facto leader. During CoconutJuiceOwO's tenure, Lanfang also entered into a controversial unequal treaty with Japan. The agreement subsequently contributed to perceptions within the international community that Lanfang was either Japanese territory or a state primarily associated with Japanese players.
On April 28, CoconutJuiceOwO was permanently banned from the server after administrators determined that they had engaged in cheating while mining.
Following the ban, responsibility for the development of Lanfang passed to Cheun_lau. In accordance with CoconutJuiceOwO's will, approximately half of the gold accumulated prior to the ban was donated to the PRC. The remainder was later acquired by Cheun_lau from Remcoms, the founder of Singapore, for 200G after Remcoms decided to relocate to North America.
Because the server had not yet officially opened, Cheun_lau subsequently contacted _Plumme, a member of the Guangzhou development team, to temporarily administer Singapore. The settlement was transferred to Lanfang members following the official opening of the server.
Early development and exploration (May–June 2026)
The server officially opened around May 1, after which several previously affiliated members joined Lanfang, including IzayoiXunFang, shenhui35, Carmines_, and MindedPercy.
The previously arranged transfer of Singapore was completed around May 2, when the settlement was handed over to IzayoiXunFang. Around the same time, shenhui35 sailed to the Spratly Islands and established Kali, an industrial settlement that subsequently became one of Lanfang's notable developments in the region.
Carmines_ traveled to Vietnam and established Saigon, while MindedPercy established Kuching at the location corresponding to the real-world city of the same name.
On May 2, Cheun_lau's friend sasilsang joined the server. The following day, sasilsang relocated to the Thousand Islands, where they established the city of Chishima and granted Cheun_lau access to the settlement.
On May 2, the town of Cungo, located in south-central Vietnam, joined Lanfang. Its members subsequently established Taingon near the mouth of the Mekong River; the settlement was later renamed Saigon.
On May 3, Shibamata was established as a joint project funded by Guangzhou and constructed on territory provided by Lanfang. Shibamata had previously been one of Cheun_lau's earliest cities during the Aurora period.
The early development of Shibamata was complicated by a terrain-generation anomaly in Borneo, which resulted in the trunks of many tropical rainforest trees being generated as stone. The subsequent introduction of a map platform, however, facilitated the production of map imagery and contributed to Guangzhou's early development.
On May 8, Johor, a settlement established by Malaysian Chinese players, joined Lanfang.
Around May 1, Ayano_sade and several associates, including Andanjune_, traveled to Fukuyama to develop the settlement with assistance from Kusora_Yurea, the mayor of Fukuoka. Owing to Lanfang's growing prospects, Ayano_sade and their associates joined Lanfang on May 7.
At the time, Cheun_lau was primarily occupied with the construction of Khuntien's first-phase warehouse and railway station and was therefore unable to devote significant attention to the administration of Lanfang. As a result, many of the country's day-to-day development affairs were taken up by Ayano_sade.
On May 10, Khuntien Railway Station was completed. A railway connection between Khuntien and Shibamata was completed shortly thereafter.
