History
Territory preparation
The flattening

Since the foundation of the town, the territory has been subjected to a flattening effort, to connect it to the region of the Pianura Padana and expand it.
The river restoration
Before the town founding, the riverbed had been dug out and was riddled with holes and caves. It is thought that the excavation took place in order to obtain clay and mud, of which the riverbed is rich.
On September 9 2026 the mayor Turolatias expressed his intention to restore the river:
«We can't leave the river in this state.» (translated from Italian)
In the same day the process of drying and filling the holes started, restoring the riverbed and preserving its course.
Tensions with Switzerland
Relations with Switzerland
Since the town founding, relations with Switzerland had been good. Padania was situated in a region where various Swiss town were located. Few days after the founding, mayor Turolatias was approached by a member of the national council of Switzerland, Bubuxcx, who offered to the town the possibility to join the nation.
Despite its subsequent admission into Italy, Padania maintained good relations with the neighboring Swiss towns, being in contact with AlpsValley and Pavia.
The Benevo incident

On the 13th of September, 2026, a new town was founded in the plains where Padania was located, Benevo. The extreme vicinity of the new settlement, only 2 chunks, made the town council doubt about the possibility of it being an hostile action of Switzerland, of which Benevo was part since its foundation.
Seeking out clarifications, the mayor Turolatias reached out to the Swiss minister of foreign affairs, Bubuxcx. Switzerland declared the absence of hostile intent, but also noted that both Padania and Benevo sat in a territory already claimed by the nation. Padania replied that there were no proofs of such claims, and that the only publicly available documents at the time were not including that area in the Swiss region.
After a brief discussion, the delegates of Padania and Switzerland came to a peaceful conclusion, avoiding possible conflicts. After the events the mayor Turolatias chose to mainly focus the expansion of the town towards the South-Ovest region, having to abandon the plan to follow the plains were the town of Asti sat in precedence.
Despite the clarifications, some citizens kept doubting about the original intent of Switzerland, which could had been hostile or to intimidate Padania.
Union to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany
Before founding Padania, the mayor Turolatias had been living in Firenze. After founding the town, he maintained good relations with the city, and frequently visited it. Contacts with Italy, of which Padania was part, were on the other hand infrequent, especially after a diplomatic incident involving an Italian government official.
With the consensus of its citizens, Padania joined the Grand Duchy of Tuscany on the 23rd of September, 2026. The admission was officially recognized by the Grand Duke ashes13C in the throne room of the Castello Ducale, in Firenze.
