The Autonomous Region of Bhutan (Dzongkha: འབྲུག་གི་རང་དབང་མངའ་སྡེ་), also commonly known as Bhutan or the Autonomous Commune of Bhutan (Dzongkha: འབྲུག་ཡུལ་ / འབྲུག་གི་རང་དབང་མངའ་སྡེ་respectively) is the internationally recognized Bhutan under Liao. Currently under the rule of Bibibuzina, the region currently consists of one city and current capital, Thimphu, with ideas of expanding Bhutan into the rest of the territory and a possible path into becoming an independent state still alligned with Liao. It is one of two autonomous territories of the LCA that currently spans the western part of Bhutan's modern-day territory. Administratively, it is divided by 3 dzongdeys (Thimphu, Trashigang, and Gasa), also split by 22 dzonkhags. Due to the location of Bhutan, the mountainous terrain covering nearly almost all of its land, agriculture is way harder to fully develop, and the nation opts for animal gathering, hunting, and resource extraction as its main economic output.

History

Pre-Liao Occupation (until July 5 2026)

Bhutan would've been settled by players slightly after the release of Terra Nostra, but would be left abandoned at a certain point in time. The city of Thimphu, and subsequentially, Bhutan would be formed in July 5th, 2026 by Bibibuzina after his exile from Japan following turmoil in Tosa and Chocolatown.

Liao Occupation (since July 5 2026)

Ideas for the formation of the Autonomous Territory of Bhutan initiated in August 2026 between Bibibuzina and NullSelfice. In the official discord for the nation of Liao, there is currently an active thread discussing the future and possible independence from Liao in the near future. As of October 2026, Bhutan has currently made its goal to have territorial hegemony over the borders of Bhutan before taking moves of independence while still having its own Home Rule act as to grant its title of Autonomous Territory.

Thimphu-Paro Dispute (September 29-October 2, 2026)

On September 29th, 2026, the formation of the Kingdom of Bhutan (currently the town of Paro), would act as its own government and the true Bhutan by creating illegitimate claims that Bhutan had gotten a 70/30 approval for independence without consulting Null or Bibi. This would lead to the removal of the KoB's wiki page and the eventual founding of Paro in October 1st, 2026. And since then, Paro has become an illegitimate government that is no way affiliated with Thimphu.

This would end in October 2nd following talks between governor Bibibuzina and mayor of Paro (now considered Wangdue Phrodang) whyisucool, where both the ARB and KOB would reach a consensus following the same ideals for an independent Bhutanese state in the region. Although Paro continues to not be in the nation of Liao, the ARB considers the town apart of it.

Geography

Bhutan is located south of the Himalayas, and so the majority of the territory is located on mountainous terrain, with only the extreme south being less steep. This has led for the region to develop differently, with one of the main economic outputs being resource extraction from the mountains (primarily being coal, copper, and iron). Agricultural production in a majorly hostile environment makes the activity nearly impossible to be recreated, making food production focused on animal gathering and hunting around the region. Bhutan has two territorial neighbors, being Narmada to its south and the province of Tibet (Liao) to its north.

Political Division

Bhutan is divided by 3 dzongdeys and 22 dzongkhags respectively:

Subdivisions of Bhutan
Dzongdeys (regions) Dzongkhags (prefectures) Total Population
Gasa (Cholland) Gasa, South Kangmar 0-
Trashigang (Umagang) Bumthang, Lhuntse, Mongar, Pemagatshel, Samdrup Jongkhar, Sampang, Trashigang, Trashiyangtse, Trongsa, Zhemgang 0-
Thimphu Chukha, Dagana, Haa, Jigme Khesar, Paro, Punakha, Samtse, Thimphu*, Tsirang, Wangdue Phrodang 5^

Although there is a pre-made border map of Bhutan, currently only one of three dzongdeys exist (being Thimphu). This is mostly because due to the lack of increase of population alongside the increase of inactive users, harming the total area the town of Thimphu can claim fully.

Wangdue Phrodang would be de-facto added to the list by October 2nd following the end of the Thimphu-Paro disputes.

Census

Bhutan only consists of about 5 people in total that belong to either Thimphu or Wangdue Phrodang, although some suggest nomads from the area and other regions near the region also settle in, ranging from a population of between 2-20 people in total.

Military

Bhutan does not have an active military force, but has guaranteed defense from the Liao Commune and its allies.
