Aurora:2025-26 Detroit Grand Prix
The 2025-26 Detroit Grand Prix was a Formula One Ice Boat Race hosted during the 2025 portion of the 2025-26 Formula One Season at the Detroit Circuit in Michigan on the 28th of September 2025. It was the opening round of the 2025-26 Season.
Although 32Jeelow took pole position for the race, it was led mostly by F1rret who lost the win on the final lap after colliding with a backmarker, handing the win to 56Faxeo who celebrated his maiden victory in the sport after debuting in 2023. GabeTM came second after contesting Faxeo for much of the race and passing F1rret alongside Faxeo with the Patagonian driver finishing 3rd. All 3 drivers finished within 3 seconds of each other. Additionally, Faxeo scored an extra point for the fastest lap of the race. Faxeo's victory put him at the top of the World Drivers Championship standings for the first time as well as his team, FordAudi.
Background
The Detroit Grand Prix was hosted in its Aurora iteration for the fourth consecutive season, debuting in the 2023 Season. The race was ran in 2022 on the Nova server however moved to a new track on Aurora. This track was changed ahead of the 2025 Spring Season, removing the wall taps in the first sector. In all Aurora seasons except 2023 and 2024, the Detroit Grand Prix hosted the opening race of the season.
Entrants
The race was contested by 19 drivers with only the Monster Racing Team unable to produce 2 drivers for the event. AkselV, hill24671, hockeyman_31, MattIsOff and pwnings all made their debut at the Detroit Grand Prix with pwnings scoring highest of all with a p7 finish. Uzbekistan Freddo, Monster Energy Racing and FordAudi all made their debut as teams. FordAudi's victory gave them a victory on debut.
Qualifying
Fabi was the first to test qualifying in the season, setting a 00:49.48 on Saturday morning before improving his lap to a 00:48.89 after taking an instant second-shot of qualifying. Provisional pole was then taken by 2023 runner-up FatihAr for Ferrari, improving the pole time to 00:48.45. AkselV failed to contest this, taking a 00:49.06 after a half-second improvement on his second-shot of his first qualifying session. His teammate pwnings qualified 0.56 seconds back for her first qualifying session. Bubu then beat provisional pole with a 00:47.80 with 4 hours left. Two-time world champion Sab was unable to contest this, taking a provisional second place.
With an hour and a half left of the session, reigning champion Gabe went to pole with a 00:47.50 and not going for a second shot. 32Jeelow was only able to match this, exactly tying the champions time on his first shot. While contesting for a first pole position, Faxeo bailed on his first shot and crashed on the final straight on his second shot, finishing over a second behind Gabe despite his laptime appearing quiickest of all. Jeelow then gapped Gabe on his second shot, scoring a 00:47.25 to take pole position for Sunday's Grand Prix with F1rret unable to match this, taking a 00:47.50 for a p3 start.
