History
Naming the town
Originally settled under the name Wolfe Island, the town quickly swelled well beyond its initial scope of that single island. When choosing a more appropriate name, the name 1000 Islands was the intended first choice, however changes to the rules regarding town names made that impossible. Instead the name Manitouana was chosen, as used by the Haudenosaunee Confederacy (first nation), who have lived in this region of North America for thousands of years prior to colonization. The Ojibwa people who lived here translated the name Manitouana to mean "Garden of the Great Spirit".
Early History
During a 6 week surgery recovery, founder lavinika mined a 3x5 chunk pit to y-level -47. From there, with the goal of ecological preservation and restoration, the city became a multi-level, subterranean project.
City Planning
The subterranean city has since expanded to a 7x7 chunk depression, with major underground platforms at y-level 46 (Inventory and Farms), y-level 9 (Concourse Level), and y-level -47 (The Pit).
